We are proud of our team members for supporting the successful execution of over 230 Research and Development lab projects for one of Silicon Valley’s most iconic technology companies. This multi-year effort was part of a larger capital program aimed at accelerating innovation by expanding current lab infrastructure across multiple campuses. Our team members worked with projects with timelines ranging from 4 – 24 months, while budgets spanned between $40K - $25M. The portfolio included specialized facilities, each with their own unique regulatory and technical demands. One of our senior staff served as the Director of the Lab Construction Portfolio, managing an annual capital budget of $140M. Under their leadership, the program-maintained control of cost and schedule performance while scaling delivery to meet the growing Research & Development demands. Our team members additionally provided end-to-end project management services across multiple lab projects. This included managing stakeholder engagement, to execution oversight and turnover. Our team standardized delivery models, ensured regulatory compliance, and helped reduce lab readiness times. This enabled the client to accelerate research and development timelines, getting to market faster. Managing dozens of active projects across multiple teams isn’t just about juggling timelines. It is about aligning schedules, budgets, and stakeholder expectations. Our Project Controls team plays a central role in making that possible. To mitigate schedule delays and cost overruns, we begin by partnering with stakeholders, project managers, and engineers to understand each project’s goals and constraints. From there, we develop and manage baseline schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or other scheduling platforms, enabling us to track level of effort and maintain control over key milestones. Cost performance is monitored by integrating financial data from systems like SAP or similar ERP platforms. This allows for real-time forecasting, variance analysis, and tracking of budget against actuals. Procurement and invoicing are streamlined through tools such as Ariba, with workflows connected directly to the project timeline for end-to-end visibility. For reporting, we use business intelligence tools such as Power BI to build automated dashboards that reflect live project data. These dashboards support leadership with clear and current insights on schedule and cost performance. We also rely on supplemental tools such as a Project Management Information System and Excel for reconciliation, field progress tracking, and ad hoc reporting.
