How have competition agencies advanced in their advocacy strategies with the Judiciary sector? The ICN Advocacy Working Group (AWG) conducted a survey to explore the state of the relationship between competition authorities and the Judiciary and what developments have been made regarding advocacy strategies aimed at this key stakeholder. Key findings include: ✔️ The level of maturity of a competition agency is a factor that has a material impact on the quality of their relationship with the Judiciary. As competition regimes mature, the role of the Judiciary also grows in importance. ✔️ Younger agencies can benefit from the lessons learned by more mature agencies to better interact with the Judiciary, which calls for more international cooperation initiatives to promote the exchange of best practices initiatives. These insights contribute to a better understanding of how agencies can align objectives and improve outcomes through smart collaboration. 📘 Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/e3mkyKyE #ICN #AdvocacyWorkingGroup #CompetitionPolicy #InternationalCooperation

International Competition Network (ICN) reposted this
Last week, DG Competition participated in the 2025 International Competition Network (ICN) Annual Conference, hosted in Edinburgh by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority. 🤝 ICN is a cornerstone for international cooperation among competition enforcers. These events are essential for building strong and trusted relationships with our global partners, sharing enforcement experiences, and aligning on emerging challenges. 🗣️ This year, DG COMP's delegation participated in rich discussions across panels, bilateral meetings, and informal exchanges, on a wide range of issues — from digital enforcement and merger control to sustainability and advocacy. Some takeaways 👇 🤝 Strong cooperation between enforcers helps us fight cartels. Joint efforts to generate, share, and act on intelligence will boost our detection possibilities also outside the leniency field. 👩💻 Effective competition enforcement in digital markets is essential — and so is cooperation among authorities to ensure consistent approaches and outcomes. We must also stay vigilant in nascent and fast-moving sectors like AI, so we can detect problems early and intervene promptly. 📌 The adaptability of the EU merger control framework is essential to address evolving challenges and ensure a level playing field that supports dynamic, innovative markets, to the benefit of both businesses and society. 🆕 Looking ahead, we are committed to revising our Merger Guidelines to reflect the fast-paced changes driven by globalization, digitalization, and decarbonization, fostering more competitive and resilient markets. Our thanks to the CMA and the ICN community for the great opportunity! #EUCompetition
