  • "The first three laws of water security are conserve, conserve, conserve. Continued growth and prosperity in Utah and the West depend on water conservation across commercial, residential, and industrial sectors." Jacob Young, our Deputy General Manager, was honored to participate in this insightful panel hosted yesterday at the Great Salt Lake Rendezvous for a Grow The Flow Symposium. This panel explored how existing and emerging technologies are transforming water management, creating new opportunities for investment and economic development, and positioning the region as a leader in sustainable growth. We really enjoyed participating alongside fellow panelists: Jenica Sedgwick - Sustainability Manager for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Meg Mason - Vice President, HydroPoint ; and Josh Romney - Founder and President of The Romney Group Moderator: Shawn Regan - Vice President of Research, Property Research and Environment Center and Stan Christensen - Sustainable development lecturer at Stanford University and Host of All Things Negotiation

  • We'd like to highlight our incredible System Operations and Meters Teams today. They are responsible for ensuring the Salt Lake Valley receives clean, reliable, and high-quality drinking water. These teams go above and beyond every day, managing and operating the water supply, transmission, and distribution systems that keep our community hydrated and thriving. From overseeing the operation of key facilities, to optimizing the system to meet all regulatory requirements and customer demands, these teams ensure that water flows seamlessly from source to tap. Whether responding to unexpected challenges, working around the clock, or innovating to improve processes, they handle it all with unmatched dedication.   What stands out the most to our leadership is the teamwork and work ethic of these two teams. The seamless collaboration between all team members ensures that the entire system operates like a well-oiled machine, ensuring the Salt Lake Valley always has access to this vital resource—no matter the season or conditions.   Their commitment doesn’t go unnoticed. The passion, expertise, and attention to detail they bring to every aspect of the job make a profound difference in the community. We want to thank them for everything they do—these teams are the backbone of our region, and we wouldn’t be able to thrive without their hard work! www.jvwcd.org #teamwork #waterdistribution #waterutility #utahwater

  • Shout out to our dedicated Maintenance Department! This team is responsible for maintaining and managing JVWCD’s critical water utility infrastructure and assets across the Salt Lake Valley — including 354 miles of municipal and industrial water pipelines, 3 large water treatment plants, 40 deep wells, nearly a dozen pump stations, multiple buildings, facilities, and structures, 33 large reservoirs/water tanks, 72 vehicles, and a variety of construction and maintenance-related equipment. In addition, our Maintenance Department oversees essential mechanical components such as valves, pumps, motors, HVAC systems, and other critical mechanical equipment and systems. Their primary focus is planned, preventive maintenance to minimize unscheduled water shut-offs, prevent avoidable failures, and maximize equipment and service reliability in the most cost-effective way. However, they remain ready, capable, and committed to responding swiftly to emergencies — 24 hours a day — to ensure JVWCD fulfills its mission of providing clean, reliable drinking water to the Salt Lake Valley through responsible stewardship and quality service. www.jvwcd.org

  • This week we attended the UNLA Green Conference to represent our district, and @utahwatersavers with an amazing team of partners! Our partners include: Utah Division of Water Resources, @CentralUtahWaterConservancyDistrict, @WeberBasinWaterConservancyDistrict, and @WashingtonCountyWaterConservancyDistrict. At the event, we enjoyed speaking with hundreds of landscaping professionals about waterwise landscaping (www.localscapes.com) and statewide rebate options that are available for their clients (@utahwatersavers) when installing waterwise landscapes. We were also excited to explore new partnership opportunities with landscapers dedicated to waterwise landscaping. Water conservation in Utah requires a collaborative effort in order to create a more water-secure future for all regions in the state. As one of the main M&I water wholesalers in the Salt Lake Valley, we're proud to collaborate with agencies and businesses alike in an effort to save more of Utah's precious natural resource!
