The historic Ambassador Bridge, once the main pathway to Canada, began construction on August 16, 1927, and opened to the public on November 15, 1929. Nearly a century later, the Gordie Howe International Bridge is set to strengthen this cross-border bond. Construction on this ambitious project began in 2018, with completion anticipated in September 2025 and an opening to traffic expected this fall.
