About us
At KIPP DC schools, students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become Washington DC’s next generation of leaders. Equipped with a KIPP DC education, our alumni are empowered to be successful in college, careers, and life. KIPP DC schools educate and support students in the District of Columbia who have historically had limited access to quality educational options. We are grounded in a commitment to excellence, equity, and justice. In partnership with families, we approach our work with a set of core beliefs: We believe all students have the right to rigorous, relevant, and joyful learning experiences led by exceptionally talented educators who promote student achievement and a sense of belonging. We believe students and alumni best succeed when surrounded by a community of champions and advocates. We believe communities thrive when our public school systems are diverse, ambitious, purposeful, and unwavering in their focus on what is best for students. KIPP DC educates 6,800 students at 18 schools on seven campuses in the District of Columbia.

New school year, new look 🧔🏻✂️ As the KIPP DC College Prep team says: "Promises made to kids are sacred." Mr. Gleditsch, AP Government & Politics teacher, made a bold promise: if DaJuan scored a 5️⃣ on the AP Government exam, he could shave his beard. DaJuan delivered! Congratulations to KCP Class of 2025 graduate, DaJuan, on this monumental achievement, and shoutout to Mr. Gleditsch for not only keeping his word but also preparing KIPPsters to succeed. At KIPP DC, we’re proud to have educators who challenge, support, and believe in our students every step of the way.

In July we celebrate disability pride month honoring the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), passed on July 26th, 1990, that prohibits discrimination based on disability and ensures equal opportunities for people with disabilities. ✨ At KIPP DC, we acknowledge and celebrate the unique culture and experiences of our students with disabilities. We ensure they have access to high quality related services, passionate special education teachers, and access to the most inclusive and least restrictive learning environment that most benefits them. 👩🏾🏫 🏫

For the second year in a row, RSM US LLP Washington Metro interns partnered with KIPP DC to support back-to-school prep 🍎✏️ 70 interns across 6 campuses helped organize classrooms, set up bulletin boards, unpack materials, and more—all to support a strong start to the 2025–26 school year! Huge thanks to school leaders, HDQ team members, and our volunteers who made it possible!
