𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁—𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 I was honored to be in Omaha, Nebraska, today for the Midwest Forum, co-hosted by EPRI, the Omaha Public Power District, Nebraska Public Power District, and Lincoln Electric System. This gathering brought together senior leaders from energy, government, and industry to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time: how we can collectively work together—leveraging existing and new technologies—to meet growing demand both affordably and reliably. Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen opened the forum with a powerful message emphasizing how the Midwest’s agricultural and energy industry intersect to feed and fuel the nation. The following conversations focused on unlocking the potential in the Midwest to innovate for the future, driving next-generation technologies including biofuel and advanced nuclear to create economic opportunities nationwide. The discussions highlighted the urgent need to ensure customer affordability and drive regional development by enabling access to diverse generation technologies, fostering community engagement, and investing in modernizing existing infrastructure and building new assets. The Midwest Forum is more than a regional event—it’s a model for national and global collaboration. The insights shared here can be replicated across the U.S. and beyond. I want to thank NPPD President and CEO and EPRI Board Chair Tom Kent, OPPD CEO Javier Fernandez, and Lincoln Electric System CEO Emeka Anyanwu for co-hosting the Forum and for your leadership and collaboration. Together, we’re shaping the future of energy.

LPPC member utilities are investing $140 billion over the next decade to meet unprecedented demand for electricity from AI and data centers. As a @NewYorker cartoon by Paul Noth captures, the conversation about who pays for this investment is one of the most important policy questions in front of us. The principle is simple: those requesting new power must pay for the infrastructure required to serve their needs. Long-term power contracts between utilities and data centers ensure that new projects are funded by the electric loads requesting the investment. That keeps costs fair, avoids overbuilding, and allows the grid to expand reliably to meet America’s energy future. Public power utilities are ready to help the U.S. win the AI race and deliver the infrastructure needed for growth — but it must be done fairly and sustainably for our customers. #GridInvestment #EnergyPolicy #PublicPower #AI #Infrastructure

  • It’s National Clean Energy Week! This Thursday, LPPC President Tom Falcone will speak at the NCEW Policymakers Summit on how public power is meeting the rising demand for energy from AI, data centers, advanced manufacturing, and more. As these challenges grow, public power remains committed to keeping electricity affordable and reliable for American families and businesses, while supporting the continued growth of industries driving America’s economy. #PublicPower #NCEW25

  • More than three dozen #publicpower leaders came together in Austin this week for the LPPC Supply Chain Working Group, generously co-hosted by LCRA and Austin Energy. The group, joined by LPPC President Tom Falcone, meets monthly online and gathers twice a year in person to collaborate on some of the industry’s most pressing supply chain challenges. This session focused on strengthening supplier monitoring, strategic sourcing, and disaster planning and recovery. By sharing experiences and best practices, #LPPC members continue to improve and strengthen public power and the communities they serve. Thank you to all our members who joined the meeting! #EnergySupplyChain #EnergyDemand

In San Antonio today with CPS Energy, who is powering the local economy and preparing for the AI + data center future. With 31% load growth from data centers projected over the next decade, CPS is building for what’s ahead. Big thanks for the time and the hat!

  • Yesterday, Chairman Sam Graves, Ranking Member Rick Larsen, and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee advanced the Fixing Emergency Management for Americans (FEMA) Act of 2025 (H.R. 4669), a vital step toward improving federal disaster response and recovery programs.   The bill includes thoughtful reforms that reflect the experiences and recommendations of emergency management stakeholders across the country, including the public power industry. Public power utilities are on the front lines when disaster strikes, working to restore power, repair critical infrastructure, and ensure public safety. Public power relies on FEMA to help them recover financially, restore essential services quickly, and build greater resilience for the future.   Read the full statement from LPPC President Tom Falcone below and read more about the bill here: https://lnkd.in/e-wRm2TE   #PublicPower #FEMAReform

  • As not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities, LPPC members are on the front lines when extreme weather events strike, working to restore power, repair critical infrastructure, and ensure public safety. They rely on FEMA as a vital partner in disaster recovery, but often face delays and red tape that stall progress.    The bipartisan Fixing Emergency Management for Americans (FEMA) Act of 2025, H.R. 4669, is a key step forward in improving federal disaster response and draws on insights from emergency response partners, including the public power sector.    LPPC appreciates the leadership of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in ensuring federal disaster programs support our communities when they need it most.   Read more: https://lnkd.in/egyjk8wb   #PublicPower #DisasterRelief #FEMAReform
