#SolvedWithYork Exciting news from the University of York! We are proud to announce our groundbreaking Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with LabLogic (https://lnkd.in/ecrfwU3a). This vital collaboration, largely led by the KTP Associate, with equal collaborative support from academic partners in the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology and industrial partners at LabLogic, aims to develop the next generation of quality control (QC) instruments for Targeted Alpha Therapies (TATs). TATs offer immense potential for treating aggressive cancers like triple-negative breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and glioblastoma. However regulatory-compliant QC checks for these alpha-labelled radiopharmaceuticals are not yet as developed as for other types. Our KTP, which commenced in October 2024 in the Nuclear Physics Group is supported by Innovate UK and aims to: • Develop innovative instruments for key QC metrics (radionuclidic identity, purity, radiochemical purity) for alpha-radiolabelled compounds. • Define future international regulatory strategy and guidance for alpha-emitters. As the knowledge base, our Nuclear Physics Group brings extensive experience in sensor development and instrumentation, crucial for optimising radiation detector performance. Dr Christian Diget leads for York, and Dr Katie Staunton-Mann is our KTP Associate on this project. We were also delighted to see HRH The Princess Royal recently visited our industrial partner, LabLogic Systems (https://lnkd.in/euyW4FNz). This celebrated LabLogic receiving The King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2023, recognising their exceptional international growth and innovation, including in nuclear medicine. Our alumnus, Dr Tom Deakin (LabLogic’s R&D Director), and our KTP Associate, Dr Katie Staunton-Mann, met Her Royal Highness during the visit. As Professor David Jenkins, Head of our Nuclear Physics Group, stated: “It’s an excellent example of how universities and business can work together to create technology and quality control approaches that will help to enable advanced cancer therapy”. This collaboration will ultimately improve cancer patient outcomes. #KnowledgeTransferPartnership #TargetedAlphaTherapies #CancerResearch #NuclearMedicine #UniversityOfYork #LabLogic #Healthcare #LifeSciences #InnovateUK James Hastie Amanda Selvaratnam University of York KTP Dr Rukmal Abeysekera

🏃♂️🏃♀️ On September 28th, myself and a group of colleagues from LabLogic Systems and Southern Scientific Ltd will be taking on the Sheffield 10K, all in support of the incredible The Rhisotope Project project! 🦏💙 Based in South Africa, the Rhisotope Project is harnessing the power of nuclear science to protect one of Earth’s most endangered animals, the rhino! By safely inserting tiny amounts of radioisotopes into rhino horns, the project creates a non-lethal but highly effective deterrent to poaching. We're proud to be running for a cause that blends science, innovation, and conservation! 👉 Find out more and support the project at: https://lnkd.in/erfqQPvt

🏃♂️ The LabLogic Team are running this year's Sheffield 10k to raise money for The Rhisotope Project! 🦏 Based in South Africa, the charity is using radiation to protect the rhinoceros population. By inserting measured quantities of radioisotopes into the horns of live rhinos, the project aims to use nuclear science in a novel way for conservation. 🛡️ This non-lethal yet powerful solution aims to radically reduce the demand for ivory and save rhinos from the very real threat of extinction. 🤝 Our sister company Southern Scientific Ltd has already supported the charity with donations of equipment and we are now raising funds to allow them to continue their work. 👉 If you'd like to donate, you can click here: https://lnkd.in/eAgZ9QyQ
