🇺🇸 Serving those who served us. This week, Senator Bob Archuleta and Assemblymember Pilar Schiavo visited our Veterans Treatment Court at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, to see firsthand how the Court and County partners are working together to support justice-involved veterans through treatment. Thank you to the Members for their commitment to improve the lives of our veterans. #VeteransTreatmentCourt #CollaborativeCourts #LASuperiorCourt

Court Executive Officer David W. Slayton joined a thought-provoking session at the Journalist Law School hosted by Loyola Law School and sponsored by the National Center for State Courts. The Program provided a venue to discuss with journalists from all over the country the evolving role of AI in the judicial system. From innovation to governance, it was a valuable dialogue on the opportunities and challenges ahead. #LoyolaLaw #LACourt #CourtInnovation #PublicService
We had the privilege of meeting with national media representatives to discuss AI in the court system during last week’s Loyola Journalist Law School. Moderated by NCSC’s Diane Robinson, our panel featured insights from Santa Clara Superior Court Judge Erica Yew, Dean Megan Carpenter of the UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law, and David Slayton, Executive Officer & Clerk of Court for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County. The group discussed areas of concern and promise while emphasizing the need for its responsible, ethical use.

Honored to welcome students from the USC Gould School of Law’s Ascend Pre-Law Summer Institute to the Metropolitan Courthouse. Judge E. Carlos Dominguez, Assistant Supervising Judge of Criminal, and Judge Damaris Diaz, met with the scholars to share insights into the judicial process and pathways to public service. Programs like Ascend play a critical role in building future legal leaders and broadening access to the legal profession. We look forward to continued collaboration and seeing these bright minds thrive in law school and beyond. To learn more about the program, click here: https://lnkd.in/gtjktWZC

David leads the largest single court system in the world, working to improve efficiency and the court user experience through technology and collaboration. Before his role in Los Angeles, David served as Administrative Director for the Texas Office of Court Administration and as Director of Court Administration in Lubbock County, Texas. Under his leadership, Lubbock County became one of the first jurisdictions to publicly post CourTools measures online, setting a national example for transparency and data-driven decision-making.
