Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
About us
At Make-A-Wish® Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, we are more than a great place to work – our work is life-changing. We are an inclusive and diverse group of people who, through a mosaic of backgrounds, thoughts and experiences, are united in purposeful work. We are fueled and guided by our values – values that are represented in the inspired people we work with and the transformational work we do, every day. Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia was founded in May 1983 in Pittsburgh, PA. Our first wish child, Bryan, a seven-year-old cancer patient, wanted to visit his favorite uncle in Texas for one of his famous piggy-back rides. Since then, and together with our volunteers, donors, staff and supporters, we have granted more than 20,000 life-changing wishes throughout PA and WV. The local chapter includes 57 counties in western, central and northeastern Pennsylvania and all of West Virginia. We are headquartered in Pittsburgh and have seven regional offices in Erie, Pottsville, Punxsutawney, Scranton and York, PA, as well as in Charleston and Morgantown, WV. There is nothing more powerful than making a child’s wish come true. And at Make-A-Wish, we will stop at nothing to ensure every eligible child received a life-changing wish. We believe – and research shows – that a wish gives kids the resilience, courage and strength they need to fight their critical illnesses. A wish doesn’t signify an end or one happy moment in time … a wish truly has the power to transform lives. This is why wishes matter. This is Make-A-Wish. Mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. #Repost from Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia Wish alum Micah just completed his fifth Pittsburgh Marathon and raised an incredible $10,030 for Make-A-Wish through his “Miles 4 Make-A-Wish” campaign! 🏃♂️💙 Micah’s wish to attend the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii was granted in 2007 after his battle with leukemia, and ever since, he's been paying it forward to help other local kids experience the joy of a wish come true. ✨ This year was a full-circle moment: Micah ran side-by-side with his brother Tonio, who was his bone marrow donor during treatment. Together, they crossed the finish line in honor of hope, healing and the power of wishes. Micah, your heart and hustle inspire us every mile of the way. Thank you for turning your journey into one that gives back. 💙👏 If you'd like to learn more about Micah's story or support his efforts, check out: https://lnkd.in/eMPz5DM4 Special thank you to everybody who contributed, donated and supported! Until next year! Tonio D. Fulena Paul Fulena

Happy World Wish Day! 💫 Forty-four years ago, a community came together to create hope and joy for a little boy named Chris, who was battling leukemia and longed to be a police officer. These original WishMakers were so inspired by the impact his wish had that they vowed to do more. The global movement known today as Make-A-Wish was born – and 615,000 children have received wishes since. But the work is far from done. In the next 20 minutes, a child will learn that they have a critical illness. And 20 minutes later, another. As long as children face this devastating reality, they’ll need WishMakers like you to help give them a piece of their childhood back. Become a WishMaker in honor of World Wish Day today at https://lnkd.in/eZ9y_XSm. Make-A-Wish America

We were so honored to be a recipient of funds raised for the 30th Anniversary Bids for the Kids event hosted by Wabtec Corporation on Friday, March 28. The dual event, held in both Pittsburgh and Erie, brought together hundreds of Wabtec employees and supporters to raise funds for Make-A-Wish and three other charities. In Erie, we were joined by wish kid Gabe, who spoke about his wish to meet the Pittsburgh Pirates. In Pittsburgh, wish kid Cole spoke about his wish for Steelers season tickets. Make-A-Wish has been a recipient of the event for all 30 years, and we have received over $1.2 million in funding since the beginning of this generous partnership. We are excited to see the results of this year's Bids for the Kids and we are so thankful to everyone who planned and supported the event.
