  • Today, we welcomed Debbie Disney and Dina Varsalone of SAJE for the first of two all staff trainings at MARC focusing on the treatment and support of patients that are neurodivergent or that have executive functioning issues. SAJE is a local educational services practice that supports students, emerging adults, and adults with evidence-based programs for individuals on the autism spectrum, diagnosed with ADHD, or dealing with executive functioning challenges. These trainings better prepare our entire staff, from admissions to clinical to recovery support staff, in supporting MARC patients in our care who may be dealing with such challenges

  • Today, MARC TA Mike James brought some of the extended care patients to volunteer at Helping Up Mission in Baltimore. Helping Up Mission, a free spiritual recovery program that treats men and women facing addiction and homelessness in the city, is a monthly volunteering event MARC patients participate in while in treatment. The MARC patients that participated had a positive experience enjoying conversations with the residents at Helping Up and getting to know them better through their stories. One MARC patient said that while speaking with some people there, the residents at Helping Up expressed how much they appreciated our visits. He further shared that the interactions with Helping Up residents made him feel really good about himself and showed him the value of giving back and helping others. Overall, it was a meaningful and uplifting experience for everyone involved.
