Earlier this month, our chairwoman Amy and the ladies of P. Flanigan & Sons, Inc. hosted Camp NAWIC at their Monroe Street asphalt plant! 👷♀️ Camp NAWIC is a hands-on construction camp designed to educate and inspire the next generation of tradeswomen. Amy, Rita, Christina, and Jill spoke to the girls about their journeys in the construction industry and what Maryland Women of Asphalt is all about! In mid July we kicked off our second Maryland Food Bank packing session of the year! 📦 Every packing session we always seem to do something different. This time our volunteers packed 25lbs snack boxes and 16.5lbs cereal boxes. All together they completed 53 snack boxes and 41 cereal boxes that will be shipped out to 21 different counties across Maryland! Thank you so much to our volunteers from MT Laney Company, Inc, P. Last Friday some of our executive committee hand delivered all of the Christmas in July food donations to the Maryland Food Bank’s headquarters. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we donated 708 pounds this year! It doesn’t stop here though! We are still accepting monetary donations through the end of the month. What a night! 🎄🦩 Last Thursday we held our Fourth Annual Christmas in July fundraiser at Tiki Lee’s Dock Bar! As many of you may know Maryland Food Bank supports 21 counties and Baltimore city out of their three locations. Last year nearly 2 million Marylanders faced hunger issues. Plenty of donations pour in during the holiday season but summer has become one of the most critical times for the food bank. With kids out of school and no access to school provided meals, the need for food skyrockets. That is the reason we created our Christmas in July event, to help support the communities that we all live and work in when they need it the most. We are beyond thankful for everyone that attended, donated food, and joined in our chairman’s challenge. We also would like to thank our friends at Maryland Print House for the awesome new 5th Anniversary t-shirts that every attendee got! Thank you so much for your support!
