The Maven Return to Space Challenge Finalists are... 🚀 Karen Kanaby (https://lnkd.in/dcUJZRks) It's amazing to look at the topic through the lens of someone personally familiar with the industry. It's also another awesome example of just what is possible with Excel today, once again silencing those who doubt it's relevance in modern BI era. Check out the project if you want to see some themed fonts combined with very smart use of color and background to navigate an otherwise busy dashboard with ease. 🚀 Niroshan Wickramasooriya (https://lnkd.in/dDyPcPUD) produced a futuristic looking dashboard with some very cool live elements so make sure to play around. Narutal top-down layout makes it very easy to read through and learn about the timeline of the space explocation touching on all the key elements of it. 🚀 Kai Wei Tan (https://lnkd.in/dESGizYH) Kai's story is dominated by a front & center timeline visual and is all the better for it. Choose from any of the main players in the space exploration history and learn the key milestones each country reached over time. 🚀 Valery Kniazev (https://lnkd.in/dZD37uNW) A refreshing take - starting not at the beginning but where we are now and how we actually got here. The timeline visual is absolutely stunning clearly showing the differences in philosophies as well as their eventual outcomes. It's a prime example of how an entire story can be told with one visual that you don't want to miss. 🚀 Gad Shoaib (https://lnkd.in/djTsyvfa) Learn about space exploration eras and what defined each in another example of powerful combination of just two, core, visuals. See how a good story relies more on simplicity and smart use of context rather than super complex visuals and detail overload. Congratulations everyone! Narrowing the competitive field of entries down to this group was super tough. There were so many strong contenders! And selecting a winner won't be much easier… 😳 🪐 WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT: December 18th! Good luck to all! #mavenreturntospacechallenge #learn #data #analytics #dataviz

Did you participate in last month's Turning Bullish Data Drill? So did our instructors! Four experts. Four tools. One winner… 🏆 In this video, Maven Analytics instructors Aaron Parry, Enrique Ruiz, John Pauler, and Chris Bruehl battle it out with their favorite tools to earn the title of Data Drill Champion. For Data Drill #7: We’ve provided a dataset containing daily closing prices for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) over the last 5 years. The task at hand is to calculate the 50-day and 200-day moving averages of the closing price and identify every “Golden Cross” — when the short-term average (50-day) crosses from below to above the long-term average (200-day), signaling a potential bull market. Each expert will be on the clock as they solve the drill, and the best solution takes the crown. Excel. Power BI. SQL. Python. Who will come out on top? 👀 FIND OUT NOW! 📽️: https://bit.ly/3Ksn5Md #datadrill #data #analytics #learn #Excel #Python #PowerBI #SQL

Learning Python? Chris Bruehl says these are the analytics libraries to know... 1. Pandas - THE analytics library in Python, which will allow you to manipulate, aggregate, pivot, and analyze your data with an arsenal of analytics tools 2. Matplotlib & Seaborn - plot your data with visually appealing and highly customizable charts and graphs 3. Plotly & Dash - create beautiful charts and interactive dashboards 4. SQLAlchemy - access a database directly, and write SQL queries to gather your data for further analysis 5. openpyxl - read and write data to and from Excel Workbooks - write Excel formulas, create Excel charts, and much more, without ever needing to open Excel directly 6. Requests & Scrapy - great libraries for gathering data from the web 7. scikit-learn - build powerful predictive models with one of the most widely used machine learning tools out there 8. TensorFlow & Pytorch - want to try your hand at deep learning? These two libraries are the industry standards for next gen machine learning 9. NLTK - have a word problem to solve? Use NLTK to get your text data to talk Knowing these libraries will allow you to tackle many of the problems data people need to solve. But of course, Python has LOTS of additional libraries. Have a favorite library that we didn't mention? Let us know below 👇 Want more great Python content like this? Most companies: "We CAN'T afford to invest in training for our people." Great companies: "We MUST invest in developing our people." Here's how it plays out in both cases... Great companies: --> Employees feel valued --> Talent stays around longer --> Knowledge stays with them --> Better trained employees create company wins --> Hiring costs are lower than they could be --> Revenue gains from smarter/empowered team members Most companies: --> Employees don't feel valued --> The best talent gets bored --> People leave --> Knowledge leaves with them --> Hiring costs are too high --> Missed opportunities for company wins --> Lost revenue potential So when you think about it, you can't afford NOT to invest in your people.
