“To walk this landscape is to feel the cadence of the land, a rhythm that ebbs and flows like the tides, that rises and falls like the wind.” Julianne Gauron on her respite on the Skellig Ring, Ballinskellig, and the Kerry Dark Sky Reserve.

It is almost that time of year where we escape the heat up into the mountains (or the coast). One of our fav spots, and not just because of its incredible wine, is El Dorado county east of Sacramento and up into the Sierra Nevada to Lake Tahoe. For vanlifers/RV-ers/Overlanders, it is a treasure of public land and dispersed camping. Enjoy! Visit El Dorado + Jody Franklin https://lnkd.in/eMa8QxfH

“Bella Coola” itself is a name with layers. It’s an exonym—a name given from outside—and a corruption of the Heiltsuk word bḷ́xʷlá, meaning “somebody from Bella Coola” or more loosely, “stranger.” The Nuxalk (pronounced “Ne-Hawk”) endonym for the local region is Nuxalk, and for the specific village site of Bella Coola, the name is Q’umk’uts. East Iceland: “Overlanding in our Toyota Hilux, which we name “White Rhino”, we navigate carefully across gravel paths, maneuvering through hairpin turns, and conquering seemingly impassable mountain passes. Though each move and detour is chosen on impulse, at each turn we thoroughly check weather and road conditions. Overhead the sky is in constant motion, clouds breaking to reveal waves of light. Off-shore whitecaps and ice crash into dark, volcanic rock.” Lisa Morris + Jason Spafford https://lnkd.in/dNX2BEfb Dometic + BFGoodrich + BLUETTI + iKamper USA, Inc.

The light and landscape in Alaska - whether at sunrise, sunset, or midnight - stretches our sense of time. It compels us to linger, and in doing so our problems begin fade, and we feel both lost and found in equal measure. Imagery by Sergius Hannan ~ October 2025 Northern Lights workshops now booking.
