Metrolink CEO Darren Kettle welcomed Congressman David Rouzer aboard the San Bernardino Line for a ride from Rancho Cucamonga to LA Union Station. As a key voice in shaping national transportation policy, Congressman Rouzer got a firsthand look at Metrolink’s service and joined us for conversations about future connections with Brightline West, planning for the 2028 Games, and the big-picture infrastructure needs of Southern California. Thanks for riding with us and taking the time to talk about what’s ahead.

Metrolink was honored to support Congresswoman Norma Torres and her Youth Advisory Group. 30 local students joined the Congresswoman aboard Metrolink to Union Station, where they continued exploring the city using TAP cards provided by Los Angeles Metro. This initiative gives students firsthand exposure to career paths in transportation, legal services, and housing. It helps them envision their futures and explore opportunities across the region. We're proud to play a role in empowering the next generation of leaders.

Metrolink is expanding its reach by engaging older adults through community programs like Metro’s On the Move Riders. Public Affairs Manager, Sylvia Novoa, helped introduce this growing demographic to our simplified fares and accessible destinations, making train travel an easy choice for active, connected living.

We love helping the next generation of railroad professionals!
As part of their summer activities, interns from some of our SoCal offices spent a day with Metrolink’s summer interns. They had a great time getting some up-close experience through a signal lab tour, participating in a Railroad 101 course, and taking Metrolink RWP Training. We’re grateful to Metrolink for their support in building up the next generation of railroad professionals! #summerinternships #engineeringinternships #railpros

Metrolink, in coordination with Orange County Transportation Authority, is giving a century-old bridge a 21st-century makeover. We’re replacing the 106-year-old bridge over San Juan Creek in San Juan Capistrano with a new, three-span girder bridge that will be constructed on a new alignment west of the existing 1917 structure, which will be demolished once the new bridge is operational. Construction kicked off in March 2024, and we’ve installed four 10’-wide, 120’-deep CIDH piles and built retaining walls during the wet season. This summer, bridge erection is underway, with cutover scheduled for October 2025. The bridge serves Metrolink, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, and freight trains. This vital upgrade shapes Southern California’s transportation future and ensures a safer, more resilient rail system for generations to come.

🎉 Exciting news for the 91/Perris Valley Line! In partnership with Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC), the Moreno Valley/March Field Station just got a major upgrade. We’ve added a new second platform and extended the existing platform to accommodate Metrolink’s standard six-car trains. To celebrate the first day of operation, RCTC hosted a pop-up customer event at the station to celebrate the first day of operation and welcome riders. As part of the project, 2.5 miles of track were upgraded, a key step toward creating a future nine-mile double-track corridor south of the station. More service reliability, more capacity, more to come.

On June 17, we welcomed our CMAA summer interns to Metrolink! Over the next 10 weeks, these students, studying engineering and construction management, will gain hands-on experience and insights into the railroad industry. Now in its third year, Metrolink’s partnership with CMAA is helping grow the pipeline of skilled professionals through a series of educational opportunities. This internship program includes a Railroad 101 course, a tour of our Signal Lab at our Melbourne office, and field visits to active job sites and facilities across the system. We look forward to seeing their contributions and growth as they take on this exciting opportunity. CMAA of Southern California
