Music Will, formerly Little Kids Rock, transforms lives by transforming music education in US public schools.
About us
Music Will, formerly Little Kids Rock, transforms lives by transforming music education in US public schools. Our network of thousands of K-12 teachers across 50 states lead a national movement that brings innovative and inclusive music education to students. Using genres including rock, pop, Latin, and rap, their program empowers teachers to build music programs as diverse as the kids they serve. As a result, students see themselves reflected in their classes, which strengthens their connection to their school, their peers, and their community. Music Will also donates necessary instruments and curriculum, meeting a key need of many school music programs. The world of music expands through innovation. Little Kids Rock ensures that music education does as well. Since 2002, the organization has reached more than 1,200,000 students with highly inclusive and culturally responsive music education. Today, more than 500,000 kids currently participate in Music Will programs. Learn more here: www.musicwill.org

What a gift it was to witness this moment at #ModernBandSummit: Mandy Harvey singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” alongside a room full of music educators she had just taught to sign the lyrics. After sharing her personal journey of reconnecting with music in a new way, Mandy reminded us that music is for everyone—and that when we embrace accessibility and inclusion, the impact extends far beyond the classroom walls. In honor of Disability Pride Month, we’re celebrating the artists, educators, and students who continue to break down barriers and expand what’s possible through music. Thank you, Mandy, for showing us the power of music without limits. 💙 #DisabilityPrideMonth #MusicIsForEveryone #InclusiveEducation #ModernBandSummit #MandyHarvey #SomewhereOverTheRainbow #MusicWill

We are incredibly proud to share the inspiring story of Jose Vergara, a dedicated Music Will teacher and a valued board member. Jose embodies the heart of our mission: ensuring every child has the chance to experience the joy and power of music. His unwavering commitment to bringing music to students in South Central Los Angeles, especially where resources are scarce, is nothing short of heroic. We're so grateful for educators like Jose who, with passion and perseverance, truly change lives. Thank you, Vívela magazine, for beautifully capturing his story!
In many parts of Los Angeles, kids grow up without ever touching a musical instrument. That reality moved Vívela magazine, the monthly editorial magazine from El Clasificado, to tell the story of Jose Vergara—a teacher at Miramonte Elementary in South Central Los Angeles, who decided to change that. This is especially true in some Los Angeles Unified School District schools, where music programs are often missing due to limited funding, pressure to focus on test scores, and a shortage of trained music teachers. That’s why what Jose Vergara did is so inspiring. Jose is an elementary school teacher—not a professional musician. But thanks to training and support from Music Will, he taught himself how to become a music teacher. With donated instruments, he now brings music to students who never had the chance to play before. His dedication reminds us that passion and community support can fill the gaps where systems fall short. Thank you, Jose, for sharing the gift of music and showing what’s possible when one person decides to make a difference, and Yabet Badajoz to bring the story to us. From classroom rehearsals to center stage at Gotham Hall, students from New Jersey public schools didn’t just perform, they showed us what’s possible when music education is truly accessible. Wearing vibrant traditional costumes, Ann Street School students lit up the room with heartfelt renditions of “Las Locuras Mías” and Selena’s “Amor Prohibido.” Their performance was a joyful display of culture, pride, and identity. Empowering students to share who they are through music builds confidence, fosters connection, and instills lasting pride. 🎥 You can read more about their journey and see why culturally responsive music education is more vital than ever: https://lnkd.in/gUY88WME #MusicEducationMatters #EquityInEducation #MusicWill #StudentSuccess

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Brian Wilson—a musical genius whose songs gave voice to the deepest parts of the human spirit. Our students from Miramonte Elementary and Bravo Magnet High School had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to record “Love & Mercy” with Brian at East West Studios, one of the places where The Beach Boys recorded their seminal album, Pet Sounds. This recording is more than a tribute. It’s a bridge between generations. It's a reminder that even in a fractured world, “love and mercy” remain radical, essential messages—and through music, Brian's important words will live on. Thank you, Brian. Your voice, your heart, and your music will continue to guide and inspire us forever. You can watch the full video on YouTube and help us carry his message forward: https://lnkd.in/gEzbUWMP
