🔬 Precision. Power. Lethality. This summer, MIDN 1/C Nathanael Kaye — a firstie at the United States Naval Academy — interned with NSWCDD’s Laser Weapon System Technology and Lethality Branch, where he studied how high-powered lasers deliver energy over time to damage materials. This kind of work directly advances the Navy’s directed energy capabilities — technologies designed to protect Sailors and strengthen the Fleet.⚡🔬 The USNA Midshipman Internship Program bridges classroom learning with hands-on naval applications, challenging midshipmen to think critically, tackle complex problems and grow as leaders. ⚓We’re proud to partner with USNA in cultivating innovative, mission-driven officers ready to lead the Navy of tomorrow. NSWCDD donated 3D printers and 3D scanner materials to the Academy of Technology and Innovation at the University of Mary Washington (ATI-UMW), giving students hands-on access to the same maker-space technology our own innovators use every day. ATI-UMW's unique, project-based curriculum is reshaping what high school can be in Virginia, helping students build high-tech skills, experiment with rapid prototyping and think across disciplines. These are the very skills we rely on at Dahlgren, and we're excited to nurture them early in our future talent pipeline. Innovation is a mindset and we're proud to partner with ATI-UMW in shaping the next generation of problem-solvers and creators. Technical excellence | Product focus | Mission driven

Did you know⁉️ Just 12 days after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, World War II ended—and Dahlgren Naval Proving Ground played a key role in the victory. From testing guns, rockets and munitions to pioneering the VT Proximity Fuze and refining bomb delivery systems, Dahlgren’s work ensured U.S. naval weapons were battle-ready. Capt. William “Deak” Parsons, who would later arm the atomic bomb aboard the Enola Gay, honed his ordnance expertise right here at Dahlgren—proving that hands-on testing under extreme conditions helped shape the tools that helped bring the war to a close. 📖 Read more: https://lnkd.in/euDNcd9t Technical Excellence | Product Focus | Mission Driven
