Director of International Scouting James Kang grew up as a son of immigrant parents from Korea, with a deep connection to his culture through food, family and traditions. "New Years was always special, filled with family and traditions carried over from Korea." James is new to the Mets, but immediately was excited that the organization provides a space for members of the AAPI community to connect across departments. "Connecting with the Asian community is meaningful, especially in New York—one of the most diverse cities in the world with a strong AAPI fan base. As a new employee, it’s a great way to connect with people across the organization and build new relationships. Devon Margulies Account Executive, Membership Services has been with the Mets since 2023 and shares what AAPI month means to her. Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) heritage month is a great way for Devon to celebrate and uplift the culture and community that she has spent so much time learning about and having the privilege of immersing herself in. I believe the Mets do a great job embracing the Asian community we have here in Queens. Gil shares what Asian American & Pacific Islander month means when it comes to his heritage and how we celebrate diversity at the Mets. #AAPI #LGM #MetsEmployees One of Gil's favorite parts of working at the Mets is the opportunity to get involved with employee resource groups (ERGs) and celebrate different cultures. "It's a beautiful thing for the Mets to take employees who may otherwise never interact, and bring them together to form a community and create opportunities to do/learn fun things with the people with whom I identify. It's also been really interesting to learn about other cultures through guest speakers, which the Mets bring in regularly for our ERGs."
