About us
The OpenMV project is about creating low-cost, extensible, Python powered, machine vision modules and aims at becoming the “Arduino of Machine Vision“. Our goal is to bring machine vision algorithms closer to makers and hobbyists. We’ve done the difficult and time-consuming algorithm work for you leaving more time for your creativity! The OpenMV Cam is like an super powerful Arduino with a camera on board that you program in Python. We make it easy to run machine visions algorithms on what the OpenMV Cam sees so you can track colors, detect faces, and more in seconds and then control I/O pins in the real-world.

We have many interesting customers who use the OpenMV Cam! For example, Scott Jordan, Head of Photonics at PI, uses the OpenMV Cam for high-silicon photonics manufacturing! Our technology can help you build complex systems by adding insight to each manufacturing step. Check out the interview below: https://lnkd.in/eXmRXnQ3

OpenMV LLC reposted this
A couple of weeks ago, I sat down with my longtime friend Kwabena Agyeman so he could get my reaction to the new camera hardware his team at OpenMV LLC, LLC has put together. The new OpenMV N6 and AE3 sit squarely at the intersection of several topics I think are important to both the ROS and robotics community, and the open hardware community. Here are a couple of highlights: 🔹 I'm really excited about the ease of use of these products while still maintaining an open-source ethos. You have an easy-to-use IDE and Micro Python at your disposal, which makes it incredibly easy to hack together a working prototype. 🔹It is great to see a reasonably open acceleration framework available for robotics developers at an affordable price point. There really aren't enough options in this department available right now. 🔹The availability of the latest technology is also exciting -- I'm particularly interested in what the event camera variant of the N6 can bring to the field of robotics. Event cameras have the potential to revolutionize the SLAM algorithms used by robotics professionals. I also experienced my first-ever on-camera earthquake during the interview!
