Although NPR, which produces news programs such as Morning Edition and All Things Considered, relies on direct federal funds for only a small portion of its budget, its approximately 1,000 member stations receive a heftier portion of their operating revenue through CPB. With its nightly PBS News Hour and children’s programming, such as Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, PBS gets around 15% of its revenue from federal money, as do its member stations on average. https://lnkd.in/gp9DV6Vv

Have businesses stepped up? Many of our partners in the nonprofit community are already lending support through sponsorships to OPB. Corporate support is about 6% of our budget overall. That's an area we would love to build over this next period. A couple of longtime members who have been with us are Portland Nursery and Carr Subaru - Sales. New sponsors coming on include Moda Health and Willamette Valley Vineyards. Other nonprofit sponsors include Oregon Community Foundation and Oregon State University. We are very grateful to them! https://lnkd.in/gf-rsj4v

The number of birds migrating through Oregon this spring declined drastically compared to years past. OPB's April Ehrlich reports on why many bird species are struggling to migrate this year. https://lnkd.in/gEdciJwx

On Sunday, July 20, OPB staff proudly took part in the Portland Pride Parade, marking our second year walking in this vibrant and joyful event. This year was especially meaningful — not only did we march, led by members of OPB’s LGBTQIA2S+ affinity group, but we also hosted our very first booth at the Waterfront Festival, thanks to the support of our incredible volunteers. Showing up for our community and participating in events like Pride is a vital part of OPB’s public service mission. We're honored to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA2S+ community, celebrate diversity, and support inclusivity throughout Portland and beyond. ✍ by Jenn McCormick and Francisca Benitez/OPB 📸 by Sarah Nairalez/OPB
