This summer, more than 650 members of the DC early childhood workforce came together for a full day of professional learning focused on strategies for personal development, self-care and financial literacy in an event put together by OSSE and Hurley and Associates. State Superintendent Dr. Antionette Mitchell greeted the educators with remarks that highlighted the vital role early educators play in the District and encouraged them to use the day as a launchpad for renewed energy, resilience and growth. https://lnkd.in/eR6NceGT

When it comes to growing and sustaining DC’s educator workforce, OSSE is pursuing a long-term strategy rooted in collaboration, transparency, and data. Two recent milestones help move that work forward: 🔹 The 2025 DC Educator Workforce Summit, where we brought together leaders from educator preparation programs and schools to share ideas and build partnerships 🔹 The new Educator Preparation Provider Landscape Brief, which offers a clear snapshot of the pipeline into the teaching profession in DC Each plays a different role—but both support the same goal: ensuring DC’s educators are well-prepared, diverse, and ready to make an impact in every classroom. 📷 Explore the Summit: https://lnkd.in/e4hAns4K 📘 Read the data brief: https://lnkd.in/ednP5KWX

“Elevate your summer, empower your future.” That’s the motto at Elsie Whitlow Stokes Public Charter School as students remain engaged with reading and math during Stokes’ summer program, funded in part by Mayor Bowser’s Summer Strong DC grant. The Stokes Summer Program includes reading and math instructions, enrichment activities like cooking class, and students sharing their hopes and fears as part of social emotional learning. Thank you for continuing to make learning fun for District students in the work to prevent summer slide. It was a pleasure to see your program in action.
