A Health Plan for Aging Well
About us
PACE-RI, pace-ri.org, is the non-profit health plan for adults aged 55 and older who want to remain at home while receiving care for complex or chronic health issues. Founded in 2005, PACE-RI provides both insurance and medical care, as well as a range of health and social services that include adult day care, transportation, and meals at sites in East Providence, Woonsocket, Westerly and Newport. Taking a comprehensive approach to well-being, PACE-RI keeps medically complex participants out of nursing homes an average of four additional years as compared to their counterparts living independently without the supports provided by PACE.

Elder homelessness is a national problem. At PACE-RI, we recognize that providing comprehensive care includes meeting housing needs. We were honored to be featured in a nationwide story from KFF Health News and NPR that highlights how PACE programs support older adults facing homelessness. Special thanks to journalist Felice J. Freyer for shining a light on this important issue, to participant Roberta for sharing her story, and to Franklin Court Assisted Living for our housing partnership. https://lnkd.in/eGU239Te

Since 2013, Pinpoint Translation Services (a division of Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island), has helped cover our translation and interpretation needs. We were happy to present Dorcas Chief Operating Officer Milagro Sique with a PACE-RI Champion Award acknowledging many years of working together. “PACE is one of our longtime partners. Our success is your success. We’re grateful for our partnership and our translation services would not be the same without you!” she said.

Our next PACE-RI Champion award goes to Director of Operations Josh Falkson and the rest of the Reliable Respiratory team. Since 2018, Reliable Respiratory has been our source for oxygen tanks and CPAP machines for PACE participants. As a key member of the leadership team, Josh and his team have made an impression with their clear communication and willingness to help. "It means a lot to receive this award. PACE-RI has been really easy to work with. We're proud to have this partnership and the chance to serve PACE members," he said.

Our latest PACE-RI Champion has been our lab partner since our first year of operation in 2005. As we celebrate 20 years of PACE-RI, we also celebrate 20 years of collaboration with East Side Clinical Laboratory (Sonic Healthcare USA) . Infection Preventionist Leslie Morrissey RN, BSN (center-right) and Long Term Care Coordinator Karena Cartwright (right) came onsite to accept the award. “We’re thankful to have worked with PACE for so many years. It has been a great partnership co-caring for your patients,” said Leslie. #paceri #olderadults #healthcareri

We were honored to host this year's Leadership Rhode Island Senior Fellows cohort at our PACE-East Providence center. The group had an opportunity to hear from our leadership, tour our facility, ask thoughtful questions, and—of course—enjoy a delicious lunch from the PACE-RI kitchen. The Senior Fellows program is a partnership between LRI and Age Friendly Rhode Island. It equips Rhode Islanders 62 and older to engage civically, build connections, and advance healthy aging across the state. #paceri #healthyaging #olderadults #leadershiprhodeisland

Our newest PACE Champion is Laura Dos Santos, director of operations at the HealthCare Facilities Management office of the Diocese of Providence. We are grateful for her ongoing support and partnership, which ensures that PACE participants are well-supported (physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually) when they require rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or assisted living from any of the facilities associated with the Diocese.

We are thrilled to share recent press coverage about our newly renovated Namaste Room, an innovative reminiscence therapy space that pairs advanced technology with the comforting décor of a 1960s living room. Thank you to Barbara Morse Silva and cameraman Scott of NBC 10 WJAR Providence New Bedford, who featured our story yesterday. Participant Marie W, who watches Health Check every evening, was thrilled to be on the program. Each May, our board members take the time to visit our day centers and directly support our participants. It's even more special when they bring family members along! Thank you to Paari Gopalakrishnan and his children (Daven, Kendall, and Quinn), and to Marianne Raimondo and her husband David P. Jasinski, for taking time out of their busy schedules to serve lunch to our East Providence participants.
