Some sketches are just for inspiration. This one became the soul of the show. I had the privilege of producing, designing, and serving as creative director for Havenpark's Annual Conference and Awards Dinner at Q Center-an experience rooted in purpose and built around story. When I first shared my concept sketch-a simple procreate drawing from my iPad inspired by the homes in Havenpark communities-it was meant to guide the vision. But the client saw something more. They fell in love with it. That sketch became the event. We brought it to life as a 20ft by 18ft printed backdrop, carefully enhanced in Adobe Creative Suite and surrounded by layers of detail: floating 8ft foamcore clouds to add dimension, a 15ft flagpole flying their brand icon, a miniature white picket fence, and proportionate welcome sign to ground it all in heart and place. Lighting carried the mood throughout: warm and inviting for general sessions, then cool blues behind the backdrop to shift the room into evening for the awards dinner. The goal was to evoke the feeling of the American dream-not in a flashy political way, but with sincerity, simplicity, and intention. And working with the Havenpark team to shape that vision was a truly special collaboration.
