"Vote for us in the Shorty Awards!" - ChaCha the Tree Frog
Stoked for Rainforest Cafe to be up for two Shorty Awards for 2024 and especially proud of the work put in and execution by All-Star Sr. Social Media Manager Melanie Cowan - as well as the teamwork and support from Melissa A. Radovich, Heather Wilson, Jasmine Leidel, and Harrison Zhang, and the entire Empire State Building team. For all marketers, this is a powerful case study on how organic social and social listening can drive both engagement and revenue when insights are put into action. What started as a playful April Fool’s Day post—announcing the “World’s Highest Rainforest Cafe” atop the Empire State Building—became a full-fledged revenue-generating campaign IRL. Among the millions of impressions and thousands of comments, one thing stood out: actual disappointment that the concept wasn’t real... So, we listened. And we acted. ✅ From stunt to strategy: Days after the post went live, RFC & ESB met to explore the idea of an IRL pop-up. When it was announced, 5,500 tickets sold in the first week. ✅ Culture + community = conversion: Fans lined up for hours, exclusive merch sold out, and tons of earned impressions were generated by press, influencers, and a massive trove of UGC from visitors at the IRL pop-up. ✅ Organic Social drove real business: The Empire State Building saw a 10+% YoY ticket sales boost, and Rainforest Cafe gained 43,000 new social followers and 100M+ earned impressions. Tickets, F&B, and merch all generated revenue. The takeaway? Organic social isn’t just for awareness and engagement—it’s a catalyst for revenue and unique brand experiences. When brands listen, engage, and act, magic happens for fans and followers - and the bottom line grows! Now for the shameless plug portion of this post: If you or anyone you know is a voter for the Shorty Awards, please check us out. 🙏 Thanks in advance! #Marketing #BrandActivation #SocialStrategy #RainforestCafe #EmpireStateBuilding #SMM
