Our figure of the month is 24.3% – the rise in the price of beef and veal in the 12 months to July. At its August meeting, the Bank of England cited concerns about food price inflation. The overall price of food and non-alcoholic drinks is up 4.5%. This could limit its ability to cut rates much further.
