  • RFGH is pleased to announce our newest The DAISY Foundation award recipient, Tammy Furbush! The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses was created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of ITP, an auto-immune disease. The Barnes Family was awestruck by the clinical skills, caring, and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this international award to say thank you to nurses everywhere. Tammy, a nurse since 2021, is a dedicated RFGH employee who works in our Birthing Center. Her nomination for this award showcases her commitment to respect, excellence, and service, which are three of RFGH’s core values. The family who nominated Tammy describe their wonderful experience with Tammy below: Tammy was our day nurse while in our postpartum recovery room, she absolutely made a huge difference in both mine and my significant others 5 day stay in the hospital with our newborn, she constantly checked on us made sure our room stayed clean and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed and more while my son was recovering from a difficult delivery. She made us feel loved and cared for in the hardest and happiest time of our life she had all the right words of encouragement and simply made our stay so much easier. She not only did her job amazingly but she went above and beyond comforting me and my baby when I needed it the most if I could have any nurse again I would choose her over and over again she was amazing and I'll forever be grateful for the way she cared for me and my newborn. The DAISY award at RFGH is made possible through the generosity of Purdue Global . If you have received extraordinary nursing care while at RFGH, you may submit a nomination at https://lnkd.in/evbGTMUE Please join us in congratulating Tammy on this amazing and well deserved honor!

  • RFGH is pleased to announce our newest The DAISY Foundation award recipient, Ryan Donovan! Ryan, a nurse since 2018, is a dedicated RFGH employee who not only works in the Emergency Department, but who also spends time mentoring new nurses and teaching classes to staff throughout the organization. His nomination for this award showcases his commitment to respect, excellence, and service, which are three of RFGH’s core values. The family who nominated Ryan described him as “one of the best nurses we have ever met.” Ryan’s nomination story highlights his dedication and diligence while caring for a patient who was critically ill. Not only did Ryan make sure the family felt seen, heard, and safe during this time, but he played an important role in keeping the patient alive. Ryan continuously monitored the patient while thoroughly educating family members on what the patient was experiencing and what they should look for “in the numbers,” allowing them to advocate on the patients behalf. The “skillful, calm, and knowledgeable” care that Ryan provided is credited with giving this patient and their family a little extra “borrowed time” together that they will always cherish. The DAISY award at RFGH is made possible through the generosity of Purdue Global. If you have received extraordinary nursing care while at RFGH, you may submit a nomination at https://lnkd.in/evbGTMUE Please join us in congratulating Ryan on this amazing and well deserved honor!
