  • Back to School Is the Perfect Time to Prioritize Health As families settle into new school year routines, it’s a good time to check in on something that often gets pushed aside, annual well visits. For children, these visits ensure they’re physically and emotionally ready for the school year. For adults, they’re just as important, preventive care helps catch issues early and keeps long-term health on track. At RefuahHealth, we’re here to support your health at every stage of life. If you haven’t scheduled your annual checkup yet, now is a great time to do it.

  • This week, we’re proud to join health centers across the country in celebrating National Health Center Week, a time to recognize the vital role community health centers play in providing accessible, affordable, and compassionate care. At RefuahHealth, we know that none of this would be possible without the heart and dedication of our incredible staff. Whether they’re on the frontlines with patients or working behind the scenes, every team member helps power the mission of community-based healthcare. Today, we showed our appreciation with a small gesture, providing snacks and drinks as a thank-you to our staff for everything they do. It’s just a token of the gratitude we feel every day for their tireless work, especially during a week that reminds us why health centers matter so much.

  • RefuahHealth has expanded its successful Care4Her program to South Fallsburg, bringing compassionate OB/GYN care directly to the community. “The launch of Care4Her in South Fallsburg isn’t just a new program—it’s a statement that every woman deserves access to comprehensive, compassionate care close to home,” said Sullivan County Legislator Terry Bernardo, who joined Refuah leaders for the ribbon cutting. “RefuahHealth continues to set the gold standard for what community healthcare should look like—personal, responsive, and rooted in dignity.” “RefuahHealth continues to be a valued partner in ensuring access to care for the families of Fallsburg. The Care4Her program reflects our shared commitment to addressing healthcare disparities and improving quality of life for women in our town,” added Fallsburg Town Supervisor Mike Bensimon. Care4Her was first introduced at Refuah’s Rockland County location, offering urgent walk-in OB/GYN services without the need for an appointment. The South Fallsburg launch builds on that success, furthering Refuah’s commitment to innovative care solutions for underserved populations. RefuahHealth has served the Lower Hudson Valley for nearly 30 years, including operating in Sullivan County since 2011, and provides care to over 86,000 patients annually.

  • This year marks a significant milestone for our oncology center, as we celebrate a year of delivering compassionate oncology and infusion care to some of the most vulnerable members of our communities. At RefuahHealth center, we understand that each patient's journey is unique, and we approach every moment of care with the humanity and heart it deserves. We take immense pride in being one of the few Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in the nation that offers oncology care, and we are deeply grateful to the dedicated team members who make this possible. As we commemorate this milestone, we are reminded of the profound impact we have on our patients and their families. One grateful daughter shared with us about her mother's treatment journey, expressing that, “Having her treatment now in such a beautiful, well-setup center so close to home is an enormous relief. It saves her time and effort, making the treatment much more tolerable.” This sentiment resonates deeply, reflecting the ease and kindness we strive to offer to those facing significant health challenges.

  • Big news from South Fallsburg! Thanks to the tireless efforts of Dr. Sean W. and his incredible team, RefuahHealth is proud to be among the recipients of the Restore New York Communities Initiative award. This critical funding will allow us to demolish and abate a long-abandoned school building in the heart of South Fallsburg, clearing the way for a state-of-the-art healthcare facility that will expand access to vital services in rural Sullivan County. We’re deeply grateful to the Town of South Fallsburg for their partnership, especially Councilman Wall-Carty and Town Supervisor Bensimon, whose support helped move this project forward. This is more than site prep-it’s the beginning of a healthier future for our entire community. 💜🩷💛 #refuahhealth #restoreNY #southfallsburg #healthcareaccess #communityhealth #sullivancounty #NYHealth

  • RefuahHealth officially broke ground last week on a 20,000-square-foot Women’s Health Wing, a major expansion of its Main Street campus in New Square, NY—that will significantly enhance access to high-quality, comprehensive women’s health services for the Hudson Valley community. The groundbreaking ceremony, held on Thursday, May 15, was attended by New York State Health Commissioner James McDonald MD MPH, who joined organizational leaders, healthcare partners, and state officials to mark this pivotal moment in RefuahHealth’s continued investment in women's health. During his remarks, Commissioner McDonald praised RefuahHealth as a model for maternal care statewide: “Your commitment to maternal health is really quite noticeable to me. You’re truly a role model for the rest of the state. You do things here that you may take for granted—things other parts of the state still see as aspirational or unattainable. It’s not one secret thing you do—it’s the hard work of solving people’s problems on an individual basis and tailoring solutions to their healthcare needs. Quite frankly, that’s the hardest part of medicine.” The new 20,000-square-foot wing will allow RefuahHealth to expand its growing fertility program, enhance maternal and reproductive health services, and create additional space across the Main Street site to support broader clinical operations. “This is more than just an expansion,” said Chanie Sternberg, President & CEO of RefuahHealth. “It’s an investment in the future of women’s health—and a testament to our mission of providing care that is both deeply personal and rooted in excellence.” The new wing will house dedicated exam rooms, specialty care suites, and patient support areas designed to meet the needs of women across all stages of life. Construction is now underway, with anticipated completion in December 2026.

  • Spring brings longer days, warmer weather, and for many of us the dreaded return of seasonal allergies For professionals trying to stay focused, allergy symptoms like sneezing, congestion, and watery eyes can be more than just a nuisance, they can significantly impact energy levels and productivity. The good news, there are effective strategies to manage symptoms and stay ahead of the season. Start early: Initiating treatments like steroid nasal sprays (e.g., fluticasone) before peak pollen levels can significantly reduce symptoms. Target symptoms: Antihistamines (such as loratadine or cetirizine) can address sneezing and itching, while decongestants may provide short-term relief (with caution for those with high blood pressure). Control your environment: Keep windows closed, shower and change clothes after outdoor activities, and use a HEPA filter with your central air system. Protect yourself outdoors: Wearing sunglasses and masks during yard work, and avoiding outdoor exposure during peak pollen times, can help limit symptoms. Managing spring allergies effectively means more than just feeling better, it’s about maintaining energy, focus, and quality of life throughout the season. With a few proactive steps, it’s possible to enjoy the benefits of spring without letting allergies interfere with your work or well-being. How do you manage seasonal allergies in your workplace? Share your tips in the comments!
