Yesterday, Ella Lazarte joined colleagues at World Water Week for a conversation on how to deploy innovative financing tools to address water challenges. In RWA's mission to promote innovative, well-designed deals and mechanisms that support investment in climate-resilient water projects, we are working closely with WaterAid to support their aim of closing the financing gap for scaling up water and sanitation services worldwide. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eRd3xYRs Lesley Pories | Elizabeth W. Malawi can become a leader in climate-resilient water management – reflections from our National Validation Workshop: It was a pleasure to be back in Malawi for the Just Transitions for Water Security (JTWS) National Validation Workshop. Water underpins Malawi’s economy and livelihoods – yet climate change, watershed degradation, and inadequate infrastructure threaten both people and nature. Building on the March Leadership Forum, where over 100 leaders set out priorities for action, we came together with government, business, finance, civil society, and development partners to shape a national programme that will: - Strengthen water governance and accountability - Scale business and community-led water stewardship - Unlock climate finance for resilience projects - Build lasting water security for millions of Malawians By aligning with Vision 2063, NDCs, and NAP, JTWS can help make Malawi a leader in climate-resilient water management – setting an example for the region and beyond. Water security is climate security, economic security, and human security – and the decisions we make now will define resilience for generations. The session was opened by Prince Mleta (Director, Water Supply Services) with alick kaumba (Director, Policy and Planning) from the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, who both helped anchor the event in national policy. Thank you to Dr Tinashe Lindel Dirwai, Dr Munyaradzi.Junior Mutenje and Mirriam Makungwe (PhD) for their valuable contributions. Lastly, thank you to the JTWS team: Dr Nick Hepworth and Walter Chinangwa from Water Witness International; Dr Greenwell Matchaya from International Water Management Institute (IWMI); Cassia Pickard, Phillipa Stanley and Arron Cox from Arup; Mphatso, Martha Kalemba from Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA); Ümit Taner, Ph.D. from Deltares; Jonathan Farr from Resilient Water Accelerator. #WaterSecurity #ClimateResilience #JustTransition #Malawi #WaterResilienceTracker

The apparel industry is a major contributor to environmental woes, responsible for 20% of global wastewater and 8% of carbon emissions. But there's a powerful solution: targeted interventions backed by commercial finance can transform textile manufacturing, leading to significant returns on investment through improved water and environmental stewardship. Our GDI-incubated Resilient Water Accelerator, in collaboration with Kate A Larsen and SupplyESChange, recently published a report: "Accelerating Water Stewardship Investments In Global Apparel Supply Chains." This report highlights the situation in Bangladesh, where the textile industry—80% of the country's exports—faces severe water availability risks due to rapid growth and fast fashion consumption. Beyond scarcity, toxic wastewater pollutes vital ecosystems, threatening human health and biodiversity.
