Precision, collision and resilience — all words to describe “the roller derby physical therapist,” Jess “J-Walk” Sterling. Jess delivers hits on the rink as a blocker for Maine Roller Derby’s A team in her spare time. But as a physical therapist specializing in vestibular and concussion therapy at our Outer Congress center in Portland, she helps patients bounce back from their toughest hits. Read her full story, including the other dangerous sports she’s tried and how her unique perspective translates to exceptional patient care: https://bit.ly/4my1U9g

Members of our Saco Bay Kids Pediatric Therapy team in Saco, Maine, recently volunteered for Special Surfers at Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunkport, Maine. The event helps individuals with special needs experience the joy of surfing. Our team had so much fun seeing all the participants and families enjoy themselves. Thank you to everyone who attended and made it such a special day. Instilling confidence, strength and regulation in our youngest patients is essential. That's why we teamed up with the EXERSHINEkids Power Bootcamp Program. Our trained occupational therapists now offer this unique, high-intensity exercise program for kiddos who struggle with sensory processing and self-regulation disorders, as well as motor and social development challenges. These sessions teach kids how exercise can be a tool for self-regulation. They also help build community and connection while developing a strong core for foundational skills. Age ranges for groups are 5-8 years old and 8-12 years old. Classes are forming now, to request an appointment, contact: Quinn Normandeau- qnormandeau@sacobaypt.com Brianna Shaw- Brlshaw@sacobaypt.com
