We’re celebrating a huge success! Thanks to Albertsons Companies, including local Albertsons, VONS, and Pavilions stores, and the generosity of our community, our 15th Annual Summer Food Drive brought in more than 411,000 pounds of nutritious food. Through $5 Hunger Bag donations and in-store food drive barrels, this effort is already making an immediate impact. The food donated is reaching children and families across San Diego County who are facing hunger today. We’re grateful to Albertsons Companies for their long-standing commitment to fighting hunger and supporting our neighbors in need. Congratulations to Bob and Eduardo, our July Volunteers of the Month! Bob and Eduardo have been dedicated FEED Ambassadors for years, never wavering in their commitment to our team and community. They’ve spent hours in the office tackling data cleanup, working out in the field helping clients register for services, and regularly rolling up their sleeves to distribute food at distributions. Bob approaches every task — big or small — with extra effort and meticulous attention to detail. Eduardo has become our resident master of laminating, organizing, and scanning anything that comes his way. The San Diego Food Bank is receiving less food from federal food assistance programs due to recent federal cuts. However, our team is working hard to come up with strategies to make up the gap in loss funding to ensure those we serve continue to receive nutritious, high-quality food. We were honored to welcome Senator Adam Schiff to the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank yesterday! By visiting our warehouse, Senator Schiff saw firsthand the impact of recently enacted policies, learned how the need for food continues to rise in our community, and even stepped right in to help our incredible volunteers package bags of food for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) distribution.
