Updates

  • This weekend, many Scouts and our friends and family are participating in the B Strong Ride here in Boulder, raising awareness and funds to cover a whole year of cancer care at the Boulder Community Health Center for Integrative Cancer Care. Scout is proud to sponsor the ride through Team Scouts for Will, formed in support of the mission to fight cancer and help those affected by it. The team rides in honor of Will Young, son of Scout's COO, who once blazed past his father cycling up the same hills of the B Strong course before he fell to cancer at the age of 15, making the route incredibly special to his family and friends. Too many of us have had family, friends, and colleagues affected by cancer, so we hope you will consider a tax-deductible donation to Boulder Cancer Fighters (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization) in the war against the disease. You can donate directly to Team Scouts for Will through this link: https://lnkd.in/eKnXp-p6

  • Nothing beats a great book in a place with a great view.   Last week, our Women's ERG and Sustainability Committee hosted an office-wide book swap for all the casual page-flippers and voracious readers in the office. Scouts brought their favorite books, wrote a note about the book, and browsed the swap table for their next read. It was a great morning with over 30 books swapped!

  • Last week, Scouts traded traffic for cold water to embrace one of Boulder's greatest summer traditions, Tube to Work Day (yes this is real). Honoring the now annual Boulder event that started in 2008 as a joke between friends, many of our employees traded part or all of their normal daily commute with an adventurous float down Boulder Creek, where they were awaited with free coffee, breakfast burritos, and a live DJ. Never a dull day working in Boulder!

  • Great visit to Nordex in Iowa this week. Thanks too to the Iowa delegation in DC for their support for wind and renewable energy. It’s important for Iowa’s and the nation’s economy.

CEO and founder of Scout Clean Energy LLC

I had a great visit at the re-opening of the Nordex wind turbine factory in West Branch, Iowa this week. The factory is upgraded and now producing the N163 5.X wind turbine for installations across the US. Iowa is a great location for manufacturing and it is definitely “wind country”. Scout’s Silver Queen project in Carrol County is next up for us in the Hawkeye State. I had the opportunity to join Governor Kim Reynolds and the Nordex team as she cut the ribbon and launched the new factory providing great manufacturing jobs for Iowa’s future. • If you haven't had a chance, Scout CEO Michael Rucker's podcast with CIBC this month is a fantastic listen, providing valuable insight into how companies like Scout are navigating the changing landscape of today's renewable industry.

  • Yesterday, many Scouts took part in Boulder's Bike to Work Day, which encourages commuters to get some exercise, lower their carbon footprint, and stop at the many breakfast stations set up for bikers by businesses across the city! To keep the momentum going, Scouts then met up at North Boulder Park for our annual Park Day, filled with outdoor games, snacks, and beautiful views.   Not a bad way to spend a Wednesday!

  • This month, our Commercial and East Region Development teams took a break from navigating the ever-changing waters of the renewable energy landscape to navigate the literal waters of Clear Creek and the Arkansas River through some whitewater rafting!   Never a dull moment here in Colorado when the summer weather kicks in!
