  • The Sedgwick County Register of Deeds’ Office had the best time this afternoon at the 2025 Veteran’s Awareness Expo. This event gave them and 60 other community groups the chance to connect with local veterans and their families to offer our services and support! Tonya Buckingham and her team electronically filed DD–214 military discharge documents for free and helped Veterans register for a Sedgwick County Military Discount Card. The discount card creates a network of Sedgwick County businesses that offer military and veteran discounts. It’s our way of thanking veterans for their service!

  • This morning current and former Sedgwick County Commissioners, and County Manager Tom Stolz attended the groundbreaking for the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT) Expansion Project. Since it was established in 2010 NCAT has trained thousands of skilled professionals who are the backbone of our aviation and manufacturing industries. Sedgwick County’s bold vision and action in funding and building NCAT ensured our region’s industries could thrive. “Knowing what NCAT has already provided for this community, we can look with excitement and anticipation of how this expansion will compound the benefits for our industry and workforce needs for generations to come,” said Commissioner Ryan Baty while speaking at the event. The new 85,500 square foot facility and professional pilot training hangar will add modern classrooms, hands-on-labs and high-tech training spaces to Wichita State University Tech’s NCAT campus. The NCAT expansion is expected to open in January 2027.
