Updates

  • 📢 UPS Announces New Demand Surcharges Effective September 28, 2025   UPS has released updated Demand Surcharges that will impact shippers across domestic, import, and export packages this peak season.   Key Highlights from the Update: 🔹 Additional Handling: $8.25 per package (rising to $10.80 during 11/23–12/27) 🔹 Large Package Surcharge: $90.50 per package (rising to $107.00 during 11/23–12/27) 🔹 Over Maximum Limits: $485 per package (rising to $540 during 11/23–12/27)   On top of that, UPS will apply surcharges to Ground Residential, Ground Saver, and Air shipments ranging from $0.40–$2.05 per package, with Higher Volume Shipper tables escalating costs as weekly volumes exceed baseline thresholds. For example, a Ground Residential package could cost up to $7.50 per package in surcharges once volumes exceed 400% of baseline.   ⚠️ For high-volume shippers, these charges can add millions in unexpected costs across Q4. What This Means for You: Carriers continue to engineer complex surcharge structures, leaving most shippers with limited visibility into the true impact until invoices arrive. Without proactive analysis, brands risk SLA failures, margin compression, and customer experience challenges right when peak demand is highest.   That’s where Shipware steps in. With decades of parcel pricing expertise, we help shippers: ✔️ Model the real cost impact of new surcharges ✔️ Benchmark against peers and alternatives ✔️ Build data-backed strategies for negotiation and cost recovery   👉 Don’t let these surcharges blindside your bottom line: https://lnkd.in/eTqkhtSh   #UPSSurcharges #Logistics #ParcelShipping #SupplyChain #PeakSeason

  • 🚨 Update #2 of the day, another fee is on the way! Effective August 29, 2025, UPS will also apply Entry Preparation Charges on imports from Canada via UPS Standard: -$10 for shipments valued at $0–$200 -$20 for shipments valued at $200.01–$800 These new charges come without offsetting service changes, just added cost to your supply chain. It’s exactly the kind of fee creep that compounds quietly and hits hard. ___________________________ 🚨 Another fee. Another cost. Another reason to reexamine your carrier agreements. Starting September 8, 2025, UPS will implement a new $2.50 International Processing Fee per U.S. import shipment, affecting services like: -UPS Worldwide Express® -UPS Worldwide Express Plus® -UPS Worldwide Saver® -UPS Worldwide Expedited® -UPS Worldwide Express NA1® Even small per-shipment fees can compound into major cost increases, especially if you’re not tracking or negotiating these changes strategically.   Shipware helps shippers stay ahead of surcharge creep and optimize agreements before costs spiral. 📩 Let’s talk about how we can help you offset rising carrier fees: https://lnkd.in/eTqkhtSh   #ParcelSpend #UPSRateIncrease #Surcharges #CarrierNegotiation #ShippingCosts #LogisticsOptimization

  • 📦 This week, UPS just duplicated a major change FedEx made on how dimensional weight is calculated, and it likely means higher costs for many shippers. Effective August 18, 2025, UPS will round each fractional package dimension, length, width and height, up to the next whole inch before calculating the dimensional weight. What looks like a small technical tweak? It’s actually a structural rate increase. If your package dimensions were 12.25 x 12.25 x 12.25 it would have been calculated as 12x12x12 (1728/139 published dim divisor) to equal a 14 lb dimensional weight. ▶️ Now that same package will round up to 13x13x13 (2197/139 published dim divisor) to equal 16 lb dimensional weight.   This shift: -Breaks from UPS’s prior rounding method. -Pushes more packages into surcharge territory (AHS, LPS). -Is not a traditional “rate increase” and may go unnoticed by standard audit tools. -Increases shipping charge corrections on invoices, which also has it’s own additional 8% SCC fee. ⚠️ The result: Higher shipping charges across the board for lightweight or custom-sized packages along with the added residual effect of Fuel Surcharge.   At Shipware, we specialize in catching these kinds of structural changes early. Our team actively monitors pricing mechanics (not just rate cards), so you’re never caught off guard.   📉 Want to see how this DIM weight change could impact your costs? • 🚨 New data shows that 50% of U.S. companies are now paying suppliers late, many by 30 days or more. Tariff pressures are rising. Payment terms are stretching. And cash flow is tightening across the supply chain.   💡 But here’s what’s often overlooked: Your parcel contract might be holding working capital hostage.   At Shipware, we help businesses free up trapped capital by renegotiating small parcel and freight agreements, reducing logistics costs without operational disruption. These aren't marginal tweaks, our clients often uncover significant savings that directly improve their bottom line, and create breathing room.   If rising costs are affecting your ability to pay suppliers on time, the smartest move might be upstream.    ▶️ Let’s talk about how we can help, contact us to learn more: https://lnkd.in/eTqkhtSh   #SupplyChainFinance #ParcelSpend #ShippingStrategy

  • 📊 Why Are Fuel Surcharges Rising While Fuel Prices Are Falling? A data-driven breakdown by Karl Wheeler, Senior Consultant at Shipware For years, UPS and FedEx tied their fuel surcharges to diesel prices. But that link has quietly eroded. In fact, since 2023, the correlation between fuel prices and surcharges has flipped, from strongly positive to deeply negative. So what’s really going on? In this insightful piece, Karl unpacks: -The historical logic behind fuel surcharges -How the carriers have quietly reengineered fuel indexes -Why shippers are paying more even as fuel costs less -What this means for your business and your carrier contracts 💡 This blog is a must-read for shippers who want to understand the math behind the margin, and avoid getting caught off guard by these under-the-radar increases. 📖 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eNiFFAp9 📞 Want to see how this impacts your shipping costs?
