We are proud to have Heather Pringle leading Space Foundation as our CEO. Thank you, Jessica Ruttenber, for sharing this thoughtful spotlight on her career and impact. Heather’s leadership, vision, and dedication continue to guide our mission of advancing education, innovation, and collaboration across the global space community. 🌟
Today, I want to spotlight the remarkable career of Major General Heather Pringle (ret). ✈️👩🏼🎓⤵️ When I worked as an action officer in the Pentagon, I got pretty good at condensing complex topics into crisp one-pagers for senior leaders. Most would skim, nod, and move on. Not General Pringle. She went beyond the summaries—diving into my research and background papers with genuine curiosity and mastery. The brain on this woman was enormous, and you could color me impressed. That intellectual drive defined her entire career... Commissioned in 1991 from the U.S. Air Force Academy, she earned degrees all the way through a Ph.D. in Engineering Psychology, combining science with service in a way few could match. She taught cadets, advanced human performance research, and later took on global responsibilities managing science and technology development, acquisitions, and even international engagement in Afghanistan. Her Pentagon roles showcased her strategic brilliance—serving as Executive Officer to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and as Director of Strategic Plans. Then she commanded the Air Force Research Laboratory, overseeing a $3 billion portfolio and 6,000 personnel across AFRL, AFWERX, and the 711th Human Performance Wing. Since retiring in 2023, she’s continued her service as CEO of the Space Foundation, championing education, innovation, and global collaboration in the space community. General Pringle’s career is proof that leadership isn’t just about holding rank—it’s about curiosity, intellect, and a relentless drive to make things better. She led with vision, with depth, and with heart. And for those of us lucky enough to serve alongside her, the impression was unforgettable.
