What happens when a satirical startup called "RoboTherapy" reveals our deepest anxieties about AI and exposes a dangerous gap between emotion and investigation? This was super interesting, thank you Daniel Sorochkin for sharing your fascinating experience launching RoboTherapy.ai, a fake company that promised "precision-engineered therapeutic solutions" and boasted that "your mental healthcare is too important for human inconsistency." Their tagline? "Achieve consistent therapeutic outcomes with technology that doesn't have its own emotional variables." Read more below.

What started as a satirical stunt to spark conversation about AI and therapy ended up leading to reactions I didn’t expect. Grateful to Ebrima "Abraham" Sisay for inviting me on the foorum Nexus Podcast to unpack the story behind RoboTherapy.ai and the deeper questions it raised about trust, technology, and what makes therapy human. Watch or listen here: https://lnkd.in/gerdigTe
A few weeks ago, I shared how a fake AI therapy company fooled me and half of LinkedIn. The headline said “RoboTherapy Raises $120 Million to Replace Human Therapists.” The comments were furious. I was too. Until I clicked the link. What I found was a satirical experiment led by Daniel Sorochkin, the CEO of TakeOne, a company that helps therapists showcase their humanity through video. The entire campaign was designed to reveal how fear, misinformation, and algorithmic echo chambers are shaping our industry. So I invited Daniel on the foorum Nexus Podcast to talk about it. Watch or Listen now: https://lnkd.in/gerdigTe This is one of the most important conversations we’ve had about the future of mental health care. The threat isn’t satire but a distraction. The solution is still us. Let me know what you think in the comments and repost if this resonate with you.

🚩📣🚨 I created a publicity stunt, and here’s what I learned: About a month ago, my team and I set out to raise awareness about a serious challenge in the therapy world: 🔶Companies are preparing to replace human therapists with AI.🔶 To spotlight that threat, we built a fake, satirical startup website: 🔗 RoboTherapy.ai A dystopian “mental health” company that promised “consistent therapeutic outcomes” by removing “human emotional variables.” It was clearly satire. But most people didn’t notice. Hundreds of therapists reacted with outrage. Few actually visited the site or asked the real question: What do we do in a future where AI is coming for therapists? 🧐 Because it is. 💥 But the good news is that human connection in therapy is irreplaceable: 1️⃣ People need real connection. AI can’t feel your pain or truly relate. 2️⃣ Tech creates unhealthy attachment. Like social media, AI therapy risks becoming addictive. 3️⃣ AI can’t be trusted in crisis. Human therapists come with responsibility, accountability, and empathy. Instead of 😡 outrage, the therapy world needs a strategy💡 If we want people to receive real care, we need to clearly voice the risks of handing mental health over to algorithms. 👉🏻 👉🏻 👉🏻 AI is coming for your profession. Seriously. You don’t beat it by ignoring it. You beat it by leaning into the one thing it can’t replicate: human connection. 🔗 takeone.video/robotherapy

Thank you Behavioral Health Tech for spotlighting this important conversation! We're thrilled to see the message getting out: a therapist’s first impression doesn’t need to be left to chance. At TakeOne, we’ve seen time and again how a short, authentic video can turn client hesitation into trust, and awkward first sessions into long-term relationships. Season 2 is off to a powerful start! Let’s keep expanding access and deepening connection.
Season 2 is HERE!🎙️ The Expanding Access podcast is back with more powerful conversations you won’t want to miss. In this episode, Daniel Sorochkin discusses how poor therapist-client matches and outdated profiles lead to high dropout rates and awkward first sessions, and explains how therapist introduction videos can build trust and improve retention. He also addresses common barriers to video adoption and highlights TakeOne's scalable solution, while emphasizing that authentic human connection remains essential despite advances in AI. Tune in and learn how incorporating personalized video content transforms client-therapist interactions, reducing no-shows and dramatically improving client satisfaction and retention! https://hubs.li/Q03wyCF60

This should terrify every therapist. Startups like RoboTherapy.ai are raising millions to replace you. They're telling investors that human empathy is just an "operating expense" to eliminate. But here’s what they don’t understand: Clients don’t want perfect algorithms. They want YOU. Your lived experience. Your genuine care. Your perfectly imperfect humanity that creates a real connection. Yes, AI can mimic conversations, it's available 24/7, scalable, and accessible. But it can’t be human. As clients move toward AI, therapists risk losing the battle. Not because AI is better, but because clients can’t see the difference upfront. The competitive advantage therapists are missing? Clients choose therapists based on connection, not convenience. But that connection needs to start BEFORE the first session, right when a client is choosing a provider. At TakeOn, we’re not here to replace therapists. We're here to help them fight back. Our introduction video technology lets potential clients see and feel a therapist’s humanity. That authenticity creates trust, comfort, and connection from the very first click. And it works. Therapists using TakeOne videos see 78% more bookings and better matches. Why? Because when clients feel a human connection, they’re far more likely to take the first step toward getting help. The question isn’t whether AI will try to replace therapists. It’s whether therapists will let it. Therapists - you can’t beat AI by being more efficient. You win by doubling down on what makes you irreplaceably human. That’s your competitive edge. And it’s something no machine will ever match. Lead with your humanity. It's the one thing AI can never replicate.
"We're witnessing the inevitable replacement of an entire profession. RoboTherapy isn't just the future - it's the present." - The Wellness Algorithm
