Congratulations to NFHA’s Sherrill Brown on receiving the 2025 Sharon L. King Distinguished Alumni Award from the Law Center for Better Housing. As NFHA’s Senior Vice President for Member Services, Sherrill was honored for her dedication and contributions to the fight for fair housing. This honor is well-deserved!
The Law Center for Better Housing annually recognizes an individual who began their career with us and continues to make a difference in the housing justice field. LCBH created the award to honor Sharon L. King, a former board member and current donor, who established an endowment that enables LCBH to host legal fellows and interns who learn how to protect tenants from eviction. It is with great honor that we present LCBH's 2025 Sharon L. King Distinguished Alumni Award to Sherrill Frost-Brown! Sherrill began her housing justice career at LCBH in the 1990s, before going on to lead fair housing efforts at Open Communities and, most recently, at the National Fair Housing Alliance. Through it all, Sherrill has kept our mission close to heart: "What I remember most from LCBH is being able to make folks feel heard. Of course, we’re not able to help everyone, but we can give someone the dignity of being heard and give them some options. From there, they will be empowered to make a better decision about their housing situation..." For all these reasons and more, Sherrill is a perfect honoree to join the ranks of other previous SLK Award Winners, including Emily Coffey, Sharlyn Grace, Claire Battle (she/her), Samira Nazem, Anthony Simpkins, and more! We can’t wait to honor Sherrill’s impact on October 9th at Buddy Guy’s Legends, and we hope you’ll be there to celebrate with us!
