Saturday’s Goose Island Cleanup was 🔥 ! It was hot as heck, but we still had about 38 people turn out to help us clean the area. Coated in sunscreen and trying to stay hydrated, we collected 60.5 bags of trash from Division, Elston, North Branch St, and Cherry St. We also found a fan, the rear seat of a vehicle, a wooden pallet, and more! Our brunch afterward at the Salt Shed Pub was an excellent time. Thanks to the Social Justice Social Club and Transportation One LLC for joining us!! On a more serious note, we found a debris field of what appeared to be white lint all the way around Five Star Hotel Laundry. There was so much that there was no way we could get it all. It seems that their facility is polluting, instead of capturing the lint in filters that can be cleaned out later. We’ll be contacting the city about this- it’s a violation of the sanitation code. #cleanup #littercleanup #chicago #chicagoevents #gooseisland #litterature #litter #volunteer #community #summer #summertimechi
