So proud to support the final leg of the 2025 Project Backpack! We are grateful to the Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island team for their heart and collaboration that made this initiative possible. 30 students on Block Island are heading back to school with brand new backpacks and supplies—ready to start the new school year off on the right foot. Special thanks to Alice Msumba for representing Point32Health, Tufts Health Plan, and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care at this awesome event.
This morning, we wrapped up the final leg of our 2025 Project Backpack! In collaboration with Point32Health, Tufts Health Plan and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care we were able to pack & deliver 30 brand new backpacks filled with essential school supplies. Bright and early this morning, Shana DeFelice, our Programs & Mission Impact Director, met up with Alice Msumba, Executive Director of Rhode Island Medicaid for Point32Health, to load the backpacks onto the Ferry - where they were delivered to the recipients of our Block Island Lunch Program thanks to our Block Island volunteer! Thank you Point32Health for supporting this project. With your help, these students will be going back to school with the confidence that they are equipped to make great strides in the year ahead! #MoreThanAMeal #MealsOnWheelsRI
