As the electric power grid continues to evolve and becomes more agile and complex, the arguments in favor of model-based engineering (MBE) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing become more compelling. This is especially true when it comes to microgrids. If the aim of a decentralized and digitalized grid is reliability and resilience, the digital tools used to design, test, and integrate the components to achieve that end should be no less rigorous and up-to-date. Download the latest Microgrid Knowledge report to learn more about how new tools and processes like HIL testing and MBE can pave the way to a better microgrid. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/d39nyfXK #GridModernization #WhitePaper #MicrogridKnowledge #BuildingABetterMicrogrid #HILTested #HILTesting

Reliable and standardized charging is key to accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles — for both passenger and commercial fleets. In our joint webinar with Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE, we explored how IEC 61851 and ISO 15118 protocols are shaping interoperability, safety, and convenience in EV charging — and how Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing helps vendors validate compliance while reducing costs and risks. Watch the recording to see how model-based engineering tools empower agile control development and testing, including: - Simulation of EVs and EVSE according to IEC 61851 and ISO 15118 - CCS ISO 15118 protocol validation with Typhoon HIL Control Center - Early-stage testing in a virtual HIL environment to avoid costly prototypes - Fault simulation and test automation for smart charging applications - Ensuring interoperability between EVs and EVSE from different vendors Speakers: - Dr.-Ing. Bernhard Wille-Haußmann, Fraunhofer ISE - Petar Gartner, Typhoon HIL - Juliano Grigulo, Typhoon HIL ▶️ Watch the webinar recording here: https://lnkd.in/dWpPskUP #EVCharging #SmartCharging #ISO15118 #IEC61851 #EVSE #HILTesting #Interoperability

During our visit to Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), we had the opportunity to explore their research labs, learn more about their focus areas, and identify points of synergy for potential collaboration. The Seminar we held there was also a great occasion to meet several professors who shared valuable insights into their ongoing projects. We visited a number of impressive labs, including IEE-IA, LMEAE, LaPSI, LabEloPot, LCE, LABEA, and LAPROT, where we learned more about research in areas such as power electronics, control, signal processing, and electrical machines. The discussions with professors Jeferson Vieira Flores, Luís Fernando Alves Pereira, Igor Pasa Wiltuschnig, Roberto Chouhy Leborgne, and Renan Viero, revealed many promising intersections with Typhoon’s solutions, from machine drives and power systems to advanced control applications. It was especially rewarding to see their interest in HIL simulation, with some already eager to integrate our technology into their research. We also would like to thank the professors Tiago Balen, Tiago Oliveira Weber, Ivan Muller, and Leyla K. for their openness in welcoming us to their laboratories. We are grateful to Prof. António Manuel Santos Spencer Andrade for leading the organization of this seminar and connecting us with such a dynamic group of researchers, as we as José Octávio Cesário from our team for delivering the seminar presentation and participating in the discussions from our side. We look forward to continuing the conversations and exploring opportunities for collaboration in the future! #UFRGS #ResearchCollaboration #PowerElectronics #ControlSystems #HILSimulation #Innovation

Digital substations are becoming increasingly complex, with protection relays and automation schemes expected to perform flawlessly under a wide range of real-world operating conditions. Yet, validating their reliability in the field is both costly and risky. With real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, utilities and OEMs can bring the grid into the lab, safely reproducing complex and fault scenarios, validating IEC 61850-based protection logic, and verifying system-level behavior in a fully controlled environment. This approach reduces commissioning risk, accelerates validation, and ensures that protection and control systems are future-proof, interoperable, and ready for deployment. 🔗 See our Digital Substation HIL Testbed: https://lnkd.in/dnSiwy_D 📅 Request your free personalized demo: https://lnkd.in/drtT8ZKb #TyphoonHILCommunity #GridModernization #SubstationAutomation #DigitalSubstation #SmartGrid #HILTesting
