About us
The USGA is a mission-based golf organization whose purpose is to unify the golf community through handicapping and grassroots programs; to showcase the game’s best talent through the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open Presented by Ally and 13 other national championships and our museum; to provide unbiased global governance with The R&A through the playing, equipment and Amateur Status rules; and to advance issues important to golf’s future, with a focus on driving sustainability, accessibility and inclusion. The USGA also manages day-to-day operations for the U.S. National Development Program, the country's first unified pathway for American talent, and the World Golf Hall of Fame, preserving and celebrating the legacies of the game’s greatest figures. As a nonprofit association, our work and our team are driven to act for the good of the game. For more, visit usga.org.

“The program was absolutely life-changing for me.” Happy National Intern Day! Four years later (and counting), the Pathways Internship Program continues to identify and develop the next generation of people seeking careers in golf, thanks to support from foundational sponsor Deloitte. The Pathways are one important part of the USGA’s annual commitment to providing valuable work experience through internships.

“Our original vision was… let’s use this golf course to be a positive force for the community.” As a founding member of this week’s U.S. Junior Amateur host site Trinity Forest Golf Club, USGA President Fred Perpall, FAIA knew he wanted to build something more than just a championship-caliber course.

Did you know we test approximately 750,000 types of golf equipment annually? This important work is a part of the USGA's Golf House Pinehurst, where a team with substantial golf industry expertise is responsible for operating the testing equipment in our state-of-the-art facility. All of this work is done to ensure that a player’s skill, not their equipment, determines success on the course.
