Profound change. Sustainable results.
About us
Value Capture supports chief executives who seek to transform the performance of their healthcare organization in safety, quality and profitability. We teach a leadership framework that inspires, unleashes and equips staff to close the gap between their current performance and “perfect” every day. The approach is drawn from the world’s most successful organizations and has been honed in health care by Value Capture principals for more than a decade. The process starts by helping leaders identify and articulate 1-2 values-based goals set at the level of perfect to motivate and teach the organization the approach needed to measurably lead the world in everything it does. . To achieve those results, Value Capture then helps leaders: • Embed improvement into everybody’s daily work rather than having improvement as a separate function that feels added on to work. • Teach everyone how to see problems and helping leaders create a more explicit, structured, “real time” approach to providing help to solve those problems to root, as they occur. Leaders can propel this journey with the development and daily use of a transparent repository of all problems, causes, solutions, and measures of progress. • Teach and apply the most powerful, practical, and proven set of ideas related to the ideal design and operation of work processes. This includes tearing down artificial distinctions between improvements in quality, safety, and cost reduction for everyone in the organization.

I had several "it's all so worth it" moments earlier this week listening to the people of an amazing client reflect on these simple, powerful questions. They are working to connect across silos and are already feeling the joy of letting go of blame and being practically, reliably connected as people and processes to make every day work better for everybody. Hats off to the client leaders for: 1. modeling the learning, and 2. actively creating the conditions where excellence can take hold. And to our awesome senior advisors Lisa Beckwith and John Collodora.

Excellence is a habit. Michael Bundy says organizations that proclaim to be truly excellent have to have team members who can answer "Yes" to three questions. He was one of the speakers at last week's Enduring Excellence executive seminar at UVA Health.

“Every time I walk into a hospital and see people hurting because of broken processes, I feel — deeply — why our work matters,” says Ken Segel, co-founder and Chief Relationship Officer at Value Capture. One of Ken’s earliest breakthroughs came when a hospital CEO realized a doctor-nurse conflict wasn’t personal, but it was the result of broken systems. Another executive pulled Ken aside and said, “You are doing what God intended you to do.” That moment still drives him today. Explore how Ken and the Value Capture team help organizations lead not just to improve, but to build habits of excellence, resilience, and care: https://hubs.li/Q03wxKTg0 #HealthcareTransformation #SystemsThinking #LeadershipMatters #HumanCenteredCare (Photo with Didier (DDA) Rabino and Mark Graban)

I am in Virginia for work, another entrepreneurial milestone. Today is almost like the first day of school. After the inspiring Women’s Fund Luncheon yesterday, I headed straight to the airport, for my first cross-country client trip with Compass Communications LLC. I’ve traveled to speak at conferences before, but this is different. I’m on site for a two-day executive seminar at UVA Health serving as the fractional Chief Marketing Officer for Value Capture LLC. I’m honored they’ve asked me to be here to experience this important event firsthand. Even more exciting: I finally met my boss Ken in person after working together virtually for 10 months (he’s based in Pittsburgh). Just 15 months after becoming a solo entrepreneur, I’m still in awe of the opportunities, people, and meaningful work that have come my way. #HealthcareLeadership #FractionalCMO #CompassCommunications #Gratitude

Our host Tracey Hoke talked about how huddles are a moment of fellowship and show who you are a leader. She emphasized that healthcare systems need to be both great and good.

“We’re always solving problems, but we never seem to get ahead of them.” That comment, shared by a Sterile Processing Department manager, will resonate with leaders across healthcare. Firefighting has become the norm. Heroics are expected. And stress levels rise as the same issues resurface day after day. But there is a cure, and it starts with Daily Management Systems. Read Didier (DDA) Rabino's latest blog on how one hospital broke the cycle of firefighting and created stability, clarity, and confidence in their work: https://hubs.li/Q03HFr5-0 #HealthcareLeadership #OperationalExcellence #DailyManagement #ValueCapture
