A V&E team from our New York office recently secured a settlement in Bronx Housing Court for a single mother and her two young daughters living in a rent-stabilized apartment with 33 housing code violations. The apartment had vermin infestations, broken floors, mold, collapsed ceilings, and faulty smoke detectors. Working with Legal Services NYC, the team filed a housing repair action and appeared in court multiple times to advocate for safe living conditions. On July 17, the landlord agreed to repair all violations and inspect other concerns, with the option to restore the case if repairs aren't completed. This result reflects the dedication of Christopher Menendez, Emma Shuck, and Anna Boos, with supervision by Sara (Bussiere) Brauerman, and the persistence of our client in pursuing safer living conditions.
