  • Can CPAs build sustainable careers? 56% of accountants report stress and burnout - significantly higher than other sectors. But it doesn't have to be that way. From smarter time management to choosing the right clients, we gathered advice from CPAs building careers that work for them: https://lnkd.in/ed5eX4XF

  • Potentially controversial - but should firms limit how CPAs display their designation? Some firms are asking CPAs to remove "CPA" from email signatures and profiles - sparking strong reactions across the profession. Many see it as diluting the value of a hard-earned credential. Others cite compliance with state rules or private-equity considerations. Where do you stand?

  • It’s been nearly a month since AICPA and NASBA approved a new, optional pathway to CPA licensure, aimed at addressing tech-driven changes and the ongoing talent shortage. AICPA CEO of Public Accounting, Susan Coffey, explained: "By aligning our model legislative framework with the laws recently adopted in certain states, we’re encouraging removal of outdated barriers and reaffirming our commitment to a truly mobile CPA profession." Key updates to the Uniform Accountancy Act (UAA): - New licensure pathway: bachelor’s degree (with an accounting focus), two years of relevant experience and passing the CPA Exam - Safe harbor protections to protect practice rights for CPAs licensed under current rules - A shift to individual-based mobility, allowing CPAs to practice in multiple states with just one license. The updated UAA, which includes these changes, is set to be released in summer 2025. So far, 14 states have already signed on. This shift, especially toward multi-state mobility, is a big step forward for the profession. Great summary below:

View profile for Ron Abraham, CPA

Partner at KSDT CPA, Certified Public Accountant, Certified Acceptance Agent, Master in Tax. The road to success is always under construction. Success is not a comfortable procedure.

Big win for the future of the CPA profession. AICPA and NASBA just approved a model law that could finally offer a more flexible path to becoming a CPA—without lowering the bar. A new licensure route is coming that would allow CPA candidates to qualify with: • A bachelor’s degree (with accounting focus) • 2 years of experience • Passing the CPA exam That’s it. No 150-credit hour hurdle. No extra cost of a fifth year that many can’t afford. More options, same high standards. This doesn’t lower the bar—it just gives people another way to get over it. The real game-changer is that the model pushes toward a single license with multi-state practice rights. That means fewer roadblocks for CPAs working across borders—finally. Now, to be clear—it’s not live yet. States still have to adopt it. But this is a big move in the right direction for a profession that’s overdue for some modernization. Let’s keep pushing. The next generation of CPAs deserves better. #CPA #AICPA #NASBA #NEW #MODEL
