In just 3 years, 20% of manufacturing workers are set to retire in the UK. This is going to leave a significant skills gap, and with a lack of new entrants, that is a daunting prospect for the manufacturing industry. ☠️ But, here’s a thought.... Why can’t we use influencers to promote the sector and showcase its exciting opportunities? I’ve heard some manufacturers saying that young people aren't interested in manufacturing. This couldn't be further from the truth. However, without the right promotion and advocacy, young people may not even consider a career in manufacturing. This is a massive, missed opportunity. Influencers can be powerful advocates for an industry or brand, and can help to increase interest and engagement among their followers. 🧲 They are prevalent in other industries, so why not manufacturing? By engaging with influencers, the manufacturing sector can really help to inspire the next generation of talent. It's already happening in the US. You have the likes of Andrew Crowe with his amazing energy and charm, inspiring younger diverse talent to get into manufacturing. There is nobody (as far as I know) doing this in the UK. 🇬🇧 You are probably thinking that you don't know where to start. But there is not much time, and you need to get a plan together. Using the right influencers is a sure-fire way of solving this dilemma. Here are some things that you could consider: Start by building your own social media presence and engaging with potential influencers. By sharing your stories, and showcasing your products and technology, you can help to create a progressive image of your business and attract influencers who are passionate about manufacturing. Collaboration between manufacturers, industry associations, and educational institutions can also help to promote the sector and attract influencers. By working together to showcase the opportunities and career paths available in manufacturing, they can help to break down barriers and attract diverse talent. Finally, individuals who are passionate about manufacturing can also become influencers themselves. It’s what Andrew Crowe did. By sharing their own experiences, knowledge, and insights on social media platforms, they can help to inspire others and promote the industry. By taking these steps, manufacturers can help to create a positive image of the industry and attract influencers who are passionate about manufacturing. The key to this is pooling resources, with a unified and coordinated approach with far more collaboration between manufacturers in the UK. The clock it ticking. ⏰ If you are interested in knowing more about how to approach this, then please DM and I’d love to help you. #talentacquisition #people #culture #manufacturing #technology #engineering #talent #renewableenergy
