As CMO of a Medicare Advantage plan, I would often receive a half dozen or so emails daily from vendors pitching their solutions (to problems we might or might not have been experiencing). Most of the email authors understood if the plan wasn't interested in their solution; a few of them would be invited to present a synopsis of their offering, fewer still would be engaged beyond that stage. What is a vendor to do? Some key recommendations for success in completing the pitch-to-implementation arc are included in this article by Barry Volin, CEO of MCRA.

There’s no denying that the Medicare Advantage landscape is shifting under our feet. Between DOJ investigations into broker-carrier relationships, Aetna, a CVS Health Company's exit from ACA marketplaces, Elevance Health expansion into FL, MD and TX ACA market and UnitedHealth Group’s revised forecasts, it’s clear we’ve entered a new chapter. One where compliance, consumer trust, and performance transparency are no longer optional. And while it’s easy to react with fear, the truth is: this moment presents one of the most promising inflection points in years. For brokers and marketers willing to adapt, the opportunities are real. First, regulatory scrutiny is pushing bad actors and gray-area tactics out of the market. That clears the field for high-integrity players to differentiate themselves. Second, as carriers reassess their distribution strategies, there’s an opening for more aligned, value-based partnerships that prioritize retention, satisfaction, and quality engagement, not just volume. Brokers who invest in post-enrollment service, education, and clear communications can become indispensable. Carriers, too, have an opportunity to rethink their marketing mix. This is the time to get closer to the consumer, to invest in digital journeys that respect privacy, improve targeting accuracy, and guide seniors through plan choice with clarity, not confusion. The marketers who win won’t be the loudest. They’ll be the ones who are clearest, most respectful, and most helpful. So yes, we should pay attention. But no, we shouldn’t panic. We’re not witnessing the collapse of the system. We’re watching it evolve. And for those willing to lead with values and vision, this can be a season of growth, not retreat. #medicareadvantage #healthcaremarketing #valuebase
