Projects

  • COVID-19 Work-From-Home

    - Present

When COVID-19 hit everyone in IT throughout Dubuque was scrambling to come up with a solution to allow for a majority of their employees to work from home. Within a week we were able to get over 35 employees the ability to work from home with little investment. Some details of the project included:

When COVID-19 hit everyone in IT throughout Dubuque was scrambling to come up with a solution to allow for a majority of their employees to work from home. Within a week we were able to get over 35 employees the ability to work from home with little investment. Some details of the project included:

    - VPN usage spiked 300%, but our firewall didn't require additional licensing and was able to handle the extra workload.

    - A cloud-based phone system was implemented for our Customer Service department since the on-premise Avaya IP Office was unable to handle what they required.

    - Worked diligently to make sure all remote workers had no network performance issues, by evaluating their network to see if they could truly do their job remotely.

    - Under $5000 was spent to repurpose some older laptops to be refreshed with SSD's and more memory.

No one was ready for this, but I truly believe our IT department did everything we can to make the transition seamless.

  • Exchange 2013 to Office 365 Migration

Email migration for 275 users from on-premise Exchange 2013 to Office 365. With our email server not coming back online, our team decided to finally move to Office 365 and not risk anymore downtime. I was able to complete the backend migration in a few hours and have incoming email flowing through late that evening.

Over the next 2 days, the IT group was able to remediate any lingering issues.

As a head coach for a 9U baseball team, my primary goals are to build each player's confidence and encourage teamwork. I provide positive reinforcement, celebrate small victories, and give individual attention to help players recognize their strengths. I also organize drills that require collaboration, helping them understand that success comes from collective effort. Promoting sportsmanship and fostering camaraderie are also crucial. I lead by example, showing respect for opponents and encouraging fair play. To build strong bonds, I organize team-building activities and encourage friendships off the field. This creates a united and happy team, leading to better performance and a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
