OKMIOT serves to develop and oversee a strategic investment plan to support long-term sustainable funding for Metropoliton Area Projects (MAPS) Stage 4 projects' operational expenses and maintenance. The MAPS program started in 1993 and was funded by sales tax revenue to build transformational projects in Oklahoma City. Total public investment through city spending on MAPS and investments by other public sector entities reached $3.1 billion between 1995 and 2018.
