“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ryan the past three years in an Account Executive-Solution Engineer/Solution Engineer Leadership capacity. Ryan has been with Workato since the early days and has had a large hand in the Sales Engineering culture and the success of many of the company’s marquee customers who continue to renew their subscriptions year-over-year. When I think about what makes Ryan special I think it comes down to his customer centricity. When we worked on deals together, Ryan led the technical side of the discussion but infused clarifying questions about customer’s business challenges and how those related to existing technology in their ecosystem. This is the area that separates excellent SEs from the others -- that’s it is not just about what the technology can do, but answering why it solves that need. Ryan and I developed a great working cadence. Our goal was to never reach solutioning until we understood why the customer was attempting to do something, what their technology environment looked like, and where the gaps were between the current world and desired world. If we were running a call and those answers were not coming to the forefront, Ryan would find ways to tease out those answers. Ryan’s approach resonated with our customers. Once we understood what was going on, Ryan would present a game plan/vision of how we would help them get to where they’d like to be. He gently challenged customer assumptions, course corrected when a hypothesis turned out to be untrue, and delicately handled tricky conversations. With all of this in mind, it is no wonder why Ryan was placed at the forefront of the Sales Engineering effort when working with our marquee customers to build their Centers of Excellence. Ryan, with the leadership he’s shown across multiple direct reports, is one of the reasons we have that culture and incredible customers, who now are sharing the word about our technology. As Ryan shifts into leading the Partner Manager program, I am excited to see how he will transform that role and again make his mark on the Workato culture.”
