“Steven Spratford has done his master’s research project under my guidance at the Department of Engineering Technology, UoH. During his time in our research group at UoH, Steven proved himself as a creative engineer capable of fabricating various laboratory scale experimental devices/cells for the electrochemical measurements in a cost-effective manner. Combining this test cell and modified solid-state synthesis, Steven’s research efforts could improve the electrochemical performance and stability of the intermediate temperature fuel cell (IT-FC) membranes. Steven was conscientious and dynamic in his approach, carefully considered various angles when designing solutions. He is always open to take suggestions and encourages others to share their perspectives. Steven also made significant contributions to the group by trouble-shooting the complex fuel cell test stations and other lab equipment. During my interactions with him, I recognized Steven as a smart, creative, curious, quick learner and highly motivated in solving problems at the interface of Engineering, Chemistry and Sustainable Energy. In addition to his engineering skills, to my surprise Steven displayed tremendous understanding of the complex Chemistry concepts. Collaborating with Steven and solving problems together has been a pleasure. I highly recommend Steven to any prospective employer looking for a talented and creative team member to solve complex problems.”
