mdg is a marketing agency that delivers results for association and event clients in diverse categories like education, healthcare, technology, energy, cupcakes, cheese curls and craft beer (we’ll explain those last three later). With a 48-year track record of success, mdg was named a “Best Place to Work” by Meetings & Conventions magazine. We’re now seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Washington DC area team.
Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting
Generate internal revenue forecasts and campaign financial reports
Analyze budget vs. actuals and provide actionable insights
Manage media spend tracking and reconciliation with the paid media team
Lead monthly credit card reconciliation and expense compliance
Drive the month-end close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Review accounts payable, and assist with AR collections
Maintain weekly cash flow forecasts and perform bank reconciliations
Support process improvements and internal control initiatives
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, including a track record of reviewing and guiding the work of other team members
Experience in a marketing agency or professional services environment a plus
Experience with campaign/project profitability reporting
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and vlookups
Proficient in accounting software (e.g. NetSuite, Sage, SAP, or similar ERP systems)
PowerBI experience a plus
