Sierra7, Inc. is seeking a Senior Auditor to support the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) - Office of Finance (OF). The Office of Finance is the steward of VHA financial resources for Veterans who receive healthcare.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support adhering to Federal, State & Local Financial laws, regulations, and activities.
  • Operational experience supporting a large financial organization with financial and accounting related tasks, such as analysis and interpretation of accounting and audit policy.
  • Lead and coordinate financial, performance, and compliance audits.
  • Experience in implementing a financial and acquisition system.
  • Develop detailed audit plans, scopes, and objectives based on risk assessments and client priorities.
  • Conduct complex audit fieldwork, including data analysis, transaction testing, interviews, and internal control evaluations.
  • Supervise and review work of junior auditors to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to auditing standards. Provide technical guidance and feedback as needed.
  • Identify risks, trends, and potential for waste and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Develop clear and concise well-supported audit reports, findings, and recommendations for senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Present audit results to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance on implementing audit recommendations and track progress and/or resolution of prior findings.
  • Ensure audits comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Skills:

  • Ability to plan and execute complex performance and financial audits for large healthcare organizations.
  • Knowledge of federal financial regulations.
  • Strong ability to analyze data sets, assess risks, identify control deficiencies, and draw sound conclusions.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and developing actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency in drafting clear, evidence-based audit findings and formal reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience leading audit teams or supervising junior staff.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in person, over video conferencing, and by phone.
  • Familiarity with 508 Compliance (desired).
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to successfully complete job duties independently or with minimum supervision.
  • The ability to multitask.
  • The ability to operate in a high stress environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional travel may be required to government sites or for stakeholder meetings.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.


Education & Experience

  • 8 years’ experience in federal financial management and audit leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, economics, finance or other related field (8 years’ experience may be substituted for education)
  • Microsoft Office Suite comfortability (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Agile / SAFe certifications a plus.
  • Previous Veterans Health Administration (VHA) experience
  • VA experience a plus.
  • Active VA Public Trust clearance (preferred).
  • Must be able to get and maintain a government public trust.
